🌟 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for this year's CAC/MDT Summit! 🌟 We’re incredibly grateful for the dedication of every attendee who made this day impactful. A special thank you to our keynote speakers, Justin Hunt and Joseph Coliflores from the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, for their insightful presentation on digital evidence in child abuse investigations. A big shoutout to our workshop presenters—Alexandra "Ale" Levi, Derek Cress, and Tony DeVincenzo—who shared invaluable expertise to enhance our work protecting children. Together, we’re building stronger, safer communities for children. Our Executive Director, Tom, had the honor of presenting to the Massachusetts Victim and Witness Assistance Board last week, which oversees the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance (MOVA). Tom shared an overview of the trauma-informed work of Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) across the state, focusing on MACA’s Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) Service Enhancement project, a VOCA-funded initiative ensuring dedicated CSEC Case Coordinators serve every CAC. The meeting also celebrated the recent passage of the VOCA Bridge, securing critical funding for FY ’25. A huge thank you to the MOVA Board, Andrea Joy Campbell, and Executive Director Liam Lowney for their support! #ChildAdvocacy #CSEC #TraumaInformed #VictimAssistance #VOCA #MACA #VOCABridge

Today we celebrate National Nonprofit Day! Let's take a moment to recognize the enormous impact that all non-profits make in our community. The nonprofit sector impacts every resident across Massachusetts. According to the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network (MNN), there are more than 38,000 nonprofits in our state, that are committed to educating us, keeping us healthy, supporting our most vulnerable populations, and caring for our cultural, historical, and environmental treasures. Our nonprofit sector is also a major economic driver in our state, employing nearly 20% of the state's workforce. A major thank you to all nonprofit workers for their dedication and life-changing work! As a nonprofit and a coalition member of Massachusetts’ 12 Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs), we pioneer the most promising, leading-edge ways that help victims of child abuse receive the best possible care. Our work enables an integrated, multidisciplinary team response to child abuse, and is committed to strengthening collaboration and driving systemic and societal change to protect children. Massachusetts Children's Alliance reposted this
Regionally since 2016 we have seen a 35% annual increase in referrals for online or commercial sexual exploitation to the Children's Advocacy Centers at the Children's Advocacy Center of Bristol County, the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, and Children's Cove: The Cape and Islands Child Advocacy Center for children at risk of, or who have been, sexually exploited commercially or online. This is an issue which is not going away, and is only becoming more complex. Thank you Patrick Flanary for taking some time to talk with me about this critical issue for WCAI-FM. https://lnkd.in/eyENgJ9S

MACA invites you to join us for the VOCA Bridge Digital Advocacy Week! VOCA (Victims of Child Abuse Act) funding supports services for victims - child and adult - of all types of crimes - child abuse, human trafficking, sexual assault, and domestic violence. Federally, VOCA funding has been steadily decreasing since FY18 and is at a historical low. Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance and the entire victim services field here in Massachusetts are advocating for VOCA Bridge Funding in the state budget to mitigate significantly reduced federal funding to victim services through the Crime Victims Fund (CVF). We urge the legislature to complete the VOCA Bridge with the $20 million needed to sustain victim services. You can help us advocate too! Contact your state representative and state senator and urge them to pass Bill H.4496. Click the link below for email/call scripts or to find your state senator and state representative. https://conta.cc/3ywxVKz #VOCABRIDGE #childrensadvocacycenters #legislativeaction #supportsurvivors
