150 years ago, we welcomed our first patient - a 28-year-old Salem resident who arrived at our 12-bed hospital on Charter Street after suffering severe burns in an accident. For three months, she received care from our dedicated team. Not long after, she returned to give birth to a healthy baby—an early testament to the exceptional care we’ve always strived to provide. Since 1874, our physicians, nurses and staff have consistently provided expert medical care and support to the patients and families of our community. This afternoon, community members, staff and Mayor Dominick Pangallo gathered in the main lobby to celebrate 150 years of healing, compassion and service. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have been part of this journey, and we look forward to many more years of caring for our community.
