That’s why MEDCO is proud to partner with the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC) on a significant redevelopment project in Glen Burnie, MD! Our team facilitated the Request for Proposal (RFP) process for a 35-acre industrial site, featuring 13 acres of developable land near the Cromwell Light RailLink Station. This project aimed to improve connectivity, create valuable business and residential opportunities, and support the community’s growth. MEDCO's expertise in advisory services was instrumental in guiding the AAEDC through this comprehensive process. The City of Annapolis, MD, utilized MEDCO's bond financing services to support the $70 million rebuild of the Noah Hillman Garage, which serves as part of a larger resilience strategy for the City Dock area. The project, implemented through a Public-Private Partnership (P3) with the Annapolis Mobility and Resilience Partners (AMRP), involved demolishing the existing garage and building a new structure with enhanced features, such as additional parking spaces, solar panels, and community spaces. The MEDCO team’s involvement in securing bond funding and acting as a concessionaire for the project was crucial in accelerating this initiative for the area. Over the past few years, MEDCO facilitated the construction of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) in Southern Maryland to support the state's defense workforce! MEDCO secured $5 million in Capital Grants for five SCIF projects in Charles County and St. Mary’s County, MD, resulting in the creation of 250+ new jobs. The SCIF spaces were strategically placed to benefit the entire region, enabling small contracting companies to share sponsorships and access mission-critical contracts. These projects cater to various defense sectors and involve partnerships with defense companies and industry hubs in Southern Maryland. Last month, members of the MEDCO team attended The BWI Business Partnership, Inc.’s Young Professionals Development Breakfast Series at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, MD. Here, MEDCO’s attendees had a chance to tour the aquarium and network with other young professionals in economic & workforce development. In 2021, MEDCO and the National Park Service (NPS) completed a transformative project to relocate the C&O Canal National Historical Park Headquarters from Hagerstown, Maryland to a historic property in Williamsport, Maryland. MEDCO managed the relocation development process by facilitating the land purchase, hiring historical preservation entities, hiring contractors and architects, overseeing construction, and more. The project also involved a cooperative management agreement (CMA) with the NPS, allowing MEDCO to secure a commercial construction loan, so the NPS may extend the lease or purchase the land after 2050. The new C&O headquarters has improved staffing, provided 70 new jobs to the area, and offers a beautiful canal view!
