About us

Mario Badescu had a singular vision: he wanted to introduce to New York City his European-style facials (mastered back in his native Romania) based on classic, Old World techniques. To Badescu, beauty and skin care were unequivocally intertwined. He understood the uniqueness of skin, and thus came to design a line of handmade products to suit clients’ individual skin types and needs. It was in 1967, out of his Manhattan home, when the renowned salon was born. Word of mouth alone earned him a loyal following, and within a few years, Mario Badescu gained recognition as a touchstone of quality skin care. Today, his legacy is carried on by the Cabasso family, which continues to uphold our founder’s belief in using fresh botanical and natural ingredients. For nearly half a century we’ve been the name that transcends generations and spans the entire life-cycle of skin: from powerful acne solutions to potent anti-aging treatments, we customize entire regimens for every skin type and concern imaginable.     Last week, Mario Badescu hosted our first-ever Teen Skin School, an initiative started after recognizing the need for greater education around teen skin within the beauty industry. This immersive experience highlighted the importance of healthy skin habits and selecting the right ingredients and products for their ages. Our young friends enjoyed a day at the Mario Badescu Headquarters, filled with a brand history session led by Joseph Cabasso, an educational discussion with Julia Crump, Director of Education, a hands-on lab experience creating their own facial sprays, a behind-the-scenes factory tour led by Mr. C, and a 'build your own skincare regimen' workshop. We’re deeply grateful to our new friends and their parents for their time and engagement. We're thrilled to celebrate our first class of Mario Badescu Skin School graduates and are happy to have equipped them with the knowledge of how products are made and the best products to care for their skin. Congratulations to Estelle Wong for the flawless execution of this event, as well as Raimey Van Nostrand, Giuliana Falcon, Victoria Hayden, and Kathy Zhou for their assistance with creative assets, Megan Picurro, our Marketing Director, and our Social and Community Team, Scott Higgins, Danielle Kalen, and Diana Crump.

  • Today, August 20, 2024, the Mario Badescu ambassador program hit 20k members…. And just WOW! Our community means everything to us, and to be able to watch them grow, and create amazing content, and making friends in our TYB groupchat is the most rewarding part of this. In just over 3 months, we have: -Launched our ambassador program (May 8) -Launched the Campus Insiders program for college students (August 5) -Sent ambassadors PR for our recent HCA spray -Sent out stickers, mirrors, and facial sprays to hundreds of ambassadors (worldwide) every week -Had their opinions on how to launch our new vanilla and acai lip balm on TikTok shop -Activated at the Ulta near the University of Alabama for rush week And this is only the beginning.     Last week, Vogue featured our Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater in their piece titled "The 8 Main Benefits of Using Rose Water to Soothe Your Skin" by Audrey Noble. As always, being featured in such an iconic publication is an honor. Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater is one of Mario's original products and one of our best sellers. This event allowed their team to learn about our brand history, experience several of our bestsellers, and get a sneak peek at some new releases.
