Last week, Philadelphia partner Sean Phelan obtained Summary Judgment in a high-exposure crane accident case, where the plaintiff's settlement demand exceeded $10 million. Sean successfully argued that the statute of repose barred liability since the crane was a permanent fixture installed over 12 years prior to the incident. The Berks County Court of Common Pleas granted Summary Judgment, dismissing all claims against our client with prejudice. Congratulations Sean! #Defense #MargolisEdelstein

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Bruce Barrett, who dedicated 41 years of exceptional service to Margolis Edelstein. Bruce was a brilliant attorney, a trusted mentor, and a beloved member of our firm. His dedication to the practice of law, unwavering commitment to clients, and leadership within the firm set an example for all of us. Bruce graduated from Rutgers University School of Law and was admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He joined Margolis Edelstein in 1983, shortly after earning his degree, and became a partner in 1989. Beyond the courtroom, Bruce was known for his kindness, integrity, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Over the course of a distinguished career, Bruce left an indelible mark on our firm, the legal community, and the countless lives he touched. We are profoundly grateful for the time we shared with Bruce, and his legacy will continue to inspire us in the years to come. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing Bruce. Rest in peace, Bruce. You will be greatly missed. Services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
