“When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed, but when we are silent we are still afraid, so it is better to speak.” - Audre Lorde Join us for: Welcoming Communities: Becoming an Ally and Upstander In response to experiences of racism, discrimination, and lack of safety from farmers of color in our community, Marbleseed is engaging farmers and folks in rural places who recognize that creating a culture of welcome that embraces diversity makes communities vibrant and viable. This training will explore incidents of racism and discrimination in rural communities while providing skills and approaches to address them. In addition to individual skill building, this training will kick off the formation of a network of ‘upstanders and allies” that are working to create safety and belonging in communities across the Midwest. Marbleseed staff attended the recent USDA town hall in Milwaukee, Wis. to talk about program programs we've been able to implement with USDA funding, while also stressing the importance of improving future program investments from USDA. Our Executive Director, Lori Stern, advocated for the permanent continuation of the LFPA program; building a robust farm safety net that meaningfully supports diversified, organic operations; supporting efforts to address consolidation and anti-competition; implementing Equity Commission recommendations to address the marginalization of farmers of color; and reinstating the organic position at USDA to help guide these efforts. Thanks to everyone who made this opportunity to advocate for an equitable, sustainable, organic, and regenerative food system possible!

Join OGRAIN and Marbleseed at Arlington Agricultural Research Station. We'll spend the morning touring the station to check out the latest research in organic grains and forages. This year’s field trials include roller crimping, strip tilling, planting into hairy vetch, and dry bean variety testing. Afterwards, we'll talk about climate-smart commodities opportunities. What are they? How do they work? What programs are out there? Register here: https://buff.ly/4c3mUP9

At Marbleseed, we are driven by a simple yet profound belief: empowered farmers are the cornerstone of strong, resilient communities. Our mission is to support these vital stewards of the land, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to thrive. By doing so, we not only enhance their livelihoods but also foster sustainable practices that benefit the entire community. Today, we invite you to join us in this essential mission and make a lasting impact. Our work at Marbleseed is multifaceted and deeply impactful. We offer educational programs that range from workshops on sustainable farming practices to advanced training sessions on the latest agricultural technologies. These programs are designed to help farmers improve their yields, enhance food quality, and adopt environmentally friendly practices. Additionally, we provide farmers with access to cutting-edge resources and a supportive network of peers and experts. This comprehensive support system empowers farmers to overcome challenges, innovate, and grow their operations sustainably. Your support can make a significant difference in our ability to expand and enhance these initiatives. With your donation, we can reach more farmers, provide more in-depth training, and develop new resources that address the evolving needs of the agricultural community. This, in turn, has a ripple effect that benefits everyone. Empowered farmers contribute to stronger local economies by creating jobs, supporting local businesses, and ensuring a stable supply of fresh, healthy food. Moreover, sustainable farming practices help protect our natural resources, preserve biodiversity, and combat climate change.
