This past week we hosted 17 young volunteers visiting Bolivia from Norway! On any given day, Mano a Mano’s network of health clinics throughout rural Bolivia average more than 3,700 patient visits! https://lnkd.in/gBsUvU7z Through the first half of 2024, Mano a Mano’s network of clinics in Bolivia had 678,916 patient visits. With a  focus on primary health, most of these visits are related to vaccinations, births, nutritional supplementation, basic lab work, dental care, and general medical attention. With Mano a Mano clinics, they become part of the Bolivian healthcare system and are the official provider for their catchment area, making them eligible for services and reimbursement through Health Ministry-funded programs. Every project is a partnership; our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Bolivia oversees the process of building clinics from start to finish; the local community and municipal government are involved throughout the process and take over management of each project once they are complete; and funders from the US and elsewhere provide the seed money that make each project possible. #bolivia #health #clinic #nonprofit #healthcare

In early October, our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Aviation received a call about a young man that had been gored by a bull in Puerto San Lorenzo in the department of Beni, resulting in a chest puncture. We flew to San Andres (we were planning to fly to San Andres, which is nearby Puerto San Lorenzo, the following day to deliver supplies, and had already received approval for that flight), picked him up, and coordinated his ambulance transfer from the Mano a Mano hangar at Jorge Wilstermann airport in Cochabamba to Hospital México in Sacaba, where he received immediate medical attention. He is recovering well and Mano a Mano flew him back home! Ivo worked with Mano a Mano Aviation for nearly 2 decades and was the lead pilot for more than a decade, personally flying hundreds of flights annually (and more than half of Mano a Mano Aviation’s flight hours). Ivo can never be replaced and will never be forgotten, but we are working to get back to the mission of Mano a Mano Aviation to consistently provide emergency flights, weekend health clinics, and transport of cargo to isolated Bolivian communities. #aviation #travel #flight #plane #pilot

Our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Nuevo Mundo broke ground on the airport terminal portion of the Mano a Mano airport project - the future home of Mano a Mano's Aviation program in Bolivia - in Punata, Bolivia on August 28th, 2024. The runway will be paved and completed in the coming months, and construction of the hangar portion is also underway.
