As a team of mostly moms and all advocates for women’s health, we have been so fortunate to have Marin Nagase Tominaga as our Chief of Staff and MBA intern this summer. From her interview outside Coupa at Stanford University Graduate School of Business through her last week of her SMIF internship, she demonstrated an exceptional ability to roll up her sleeves, tackle health plan jargon (and a million acronyms), and deliver better outcomes for moms and babies. Her dedication and operational wizardry have been invaluable, and we’re so grateful for all we’ve learned from her! As she heads back for her final year, the team is so excited to see her continue to shine and make an impact. 💖 Also, if you know any amazing humans like Marin with operational chops and the passion to improve outcomes for moms and babies, Malama Health is hiring!

70% of women with gestational diabetes go on to develop type II diabetes, yet most women don't get any kind of follow-up at all. Our team at Malama Health is so excited to announce the launch of our CDC-approved postpartum wellness program, designed to support all postpartum individuals and lower the risk of developing type II diabetes, especially for those who have experienced gestational diabetes. Access our tailored resources through the Malama app (select the postpartum option during signup): https://malama.app.link/ This program is more than just a health initiative; it's a community where you can safely engage in postpartum exercises, discover healthy eating options, and connect with others on similar journeys. Remember, just like your newborn, you also deserve to be nourished, nurtured, and loved ❤️ See you on Malama!

Gestational diabetes affects 1 in 7 pregnancies and is the most common medical pregnancy complication worldwide. Cases of gestational diabetes are increasing and becoming more complex due to higher levels of risk factors, such as obesity. Without treatment, gestational diabetes can lead to increased risk of: - High blood pressure - Caesarean sections - Mental health conditions - Health complications later in life, such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease - Complications for the baby at delivery Testing and treatment for the condition often occurs late into the second or third trimester. Authors of a new Lancet Series call for earlier intervention to prevent complications and improve long-term health outcomes. “Our new Series emphasises the urgent need for a major shift in how [gestational diabetes] is first diagnosed and managed, not only during pregnancy but throughout the lifetime of mothers and their babies,” said Series lead, Prof. David Simmons. How do you pitch your company when only 2.1% of venture funding in 2023 went to women-only founding teams (PitchBook)? How do you balance parenthood with entrepreneurial careers? In my dual roles on the Galvanizer and GSB Women in Management leadership teams, I was honored to organize a star-studded Female Founders & Funders panel at Stanford University Graduate School of Business with Danielle Jing of Pear VC, Sydney Sykes of Lightspeed, Nicole Chung of Upfront Ventures, Lizzie Matusov of Quotient, and Mika Eddy of Malama Health. It was so inspiring to be surrounded in a room full of MBA women passionate about entrepreneurship! As I continue in my own journey of building Peachy Day, I hope to keep creating opportunities for fellow women like our panelists have. Here are some of my key learnings: ✨ Female founders: go into investor meetings with more confidence, rather than the expectation that you might fail. You've got this, and it's what your venture deserves! 🎤 When presenting women-centric products to male investors, pitch the magnitude of the opportunity, and especially emphasize how your solution can improve the lives of the women that they care most about (partners, moms, daughters, and more). 🤱 There'll never be a perfect time in life to both start building a family and launching a company—build a strong support network (partners, co-founders, nearby family) that you can rely on during the harder days. 💙 to Whitney Hazard, Lydia D., Sara Flamm, and Alexandra Small who made this event possible! #femalefounders #femaleinvestors #womensentrepreneurship #investinwomen #womensupportingwomen #femalefounder
