Recently vetting GCs for a project & narrowed it down to two. Both shops are qualified & we are impressed w/ both teams, but one of them stands out. What have they done differently? They have explicitly said they want the job. They say it often & enthusiastically (w/o being weird about it). Clearly asking for what you want has a much greater impact than you think & while I know this, this process has been illustrative of how powerful this approach can be— it’s certainly had an impact in how I approach conversations recently.
