"Every year on November 1st and 2nd we take time to honor our ancestors. In Mexican culture we set up ofrendas - altar offerings, made from traditional Mexican flowers like cempasúchil (Mexican marigold) and terciopelo (celosia) to remember our families.” - Rodrigo Cala For the past five years, Rodrigo and his children, have been producing traditional Mexican flowers to share with the Minneapolis and St. Paul communities in celebration of Día de los Muertos. Cempasúchil holds a unique and essential place in Día de los Muertos because they are believed to help guide the souls of the departed back to the living. Their vibrant orange and yellow colors, symbolizing life and death, are highly visible and easy for spirits to follow. Additionally, the strong, musky scent of cempasúchil is thought to draw spirits to the altars, helping them find their way home during this special time of reunion. “I do this because I see how the new generation is starting to forget these traditions. This is important because Día de los Muertos is not like Halloween, it has a totally different meaning." - Rodrigo Cala Read the full story >> https://lnkd.in/eauQY7Sh

Creating a regenerative revolution in agriculture.
About us
Mad Ag was founded to help shape the new agrarian culture. How can we live well on earth allowing humanity and ecological systems to flourish and support one another? Our mission is to help farmers and ranchers thrive ecologically and economically. We work on-the-ground with producers to create Regenerative Farm Plans. We don’t shy away from dreaming big about the ecological, social and economic potential of regenerative farming. We are healing landscapes that have been mismanaged and need love, care and stewardship. Mad Agriculture wholly inspired by the Mad Farmer poems of Wendell Berry Mad Farmer, which calls humanity to a radical recreation of good economy and agriculture rooted in the indivisible health of the land and people.

Recent graduate with professional experience looking for opportunities in soil health, soil carbon, and sustainable agriculture initiatives.
Had an awesome day with Mad Agriculture at their Haystack Farm field day yesterday! It was filled with discussion around the history and geomorphology of the Left Hand Creek Valley, pizza and networking with fellow regen enthusiasts and interactive soil science education in the pit with Clark Harshbarger. I was sent home with an armful of beautiful greens courtesy of Wild Wellspring Farm (winter only CSA check them out!!) and so much gratitude for all the work and incredible knowledge I’m surrounded by in the Front Range community. Thanks Mad!

Join us November 16 in Lyons, CO for an evening of extraordinary flavors and innovative dishes celebrating Farro, an ancient grain that can improve human and soil health. Chef Cody Candelario, renowned Food Network star and champion of “Cutthroat Kitchen” and “Chopped,” and finalist on “Hell’s Kitchen,” is bringing together some of Colorado’s top chefs in this thrilling showdown, battling for the ultimate prize in grits greatness! At the heart of the competition is Gruff Ancient Grain Grits, made from Farro grown on Prairie Grass Ranch, a 106-year-old family farm nestled in Montana’s renowned Golden Triangle. Gruff, winner of the 2013 NEXTY Award for Best Certified Regenerative Organic Product, takes Farro—typically enjoyed as a berry or flour—and transforms it into nutrient-packed grits that you won’t want to miss. This exciting event shines a spotlight on the importance of artisan grains like Farro in regenerative farming systems. Beyond its delicious flavor and ancient heritage, Farro is a healthier, more sustainable alternative to refined grains like white rice. Its cultivation helps regenerate the land by improving soil health, conserving water, and boosting biodiversity. Come celebrate with us in this one-of-a-kind evening that’s not only a feast for the senses but also a celebration of grains that are good for your health, good for our farms, and good for the planet. https://lnkd.in/dm7swqK3
