On October 7th, Illinois Task Force 1 continued to work alongside NC-TF6 and NC-TF9 and was partnered with Vermont teams in Garren Creek NC. IL-TF1 met with other teams for search plan and was assigned a division with 2 slides. IL-TF1 walked slide areas and marked in SARCOP, laying primary search tracks along perimeter of each debris pile and marking as targeted searches. IL-TF1 began delayering very large debris pile by a house that was washed away. Progress was slow due to size and depth of pile with multiple large trees and vehicles buried in debris. Operations stopped all searches for briefing with local IC and area declared as clear with 100% search. IL-TF1 returned to base of ops and is reassigned to the Swannanoa area for next ops period. #MABAS #ILTF1 #Rescue #Helene #NorthCarolina
