Picture the functionality of Eventbrite with the social fabric of Facebook, but not designed by and for our parents, designed by and for GenZ. We launched at the University of Chicago this past fall and have grown to around 1,500 users, 70+ groups, hundreds of events, 7k+ invites, and hundreds of paid tickets. We won $160k, the largest undergraduate investment in history, through University of Chicago’s start up competition that produced GrubHub, BrainTree (Venmo), Tovala, SimpleMills, and more. Role Description: This is a full-time hybrid role for a User Experience Designer. We are seeking an experienced user experience creative, who has extensive knowledge about the psychology and design techniques needed to design a consumer social platform. The User Experience Designer will be responsible for performing user research, applying design thinking methodologies, and redesigning Lynkr 2.0. You will develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that align with project goals and user needs, as well as collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of user-centered designs. This role is either based in-person in New York, NY this summer, or remotely. Qualifications: User Research and design thinking skills to understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points Experience in Visual Design and Prototyping Proficiency in User Experience (UX) design Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to work independently and in a team Experience with UX/UI design tools, specifically Figma In your application please include: Your portfolio of past projects A proposal including your ideas for Lynkr #UX #UI #NYCJobs #ConsumerSocial #Consumer #Figma

I spent 90% of my first year at UChicago trapped in my dorm room. In the three years since the pandemic, I've sought out every opportunity to connect with the brilliant people here and make up for that lost time. That's why it has felt so fitting to spend these last few months before graduation developing a next-generation social network that fosters those real-life connections. My freshman year self would be proud. But I'm even prouder of my amazing teammates at Lynkr App (Emily Wheeler and Geneva Kirk Drayson) for our first-place performance at the Polsky Center at the University of Chicago's College New Venture Challenge. And I'm especially grateful for our mentors - like Starr Marcello, Kate Turvy, Scott Metcalf, Kim Marsh Allee, John Thode, Ale Breuer and the whole Polsky team - for molding our ideas into an effective pitch. Plus, I can't forget to shout out the incredible CNVC teams in our cohort who are launching incredible businesses alongside us. The University of Chicago is America's next entrepreneurial hub. And I'm thrilled that investors across the world are already taking notice.
