This month I had the unique opportunity to work with 2 standout LWT: Advancing Women in Leadership #WILpower participants, Nicole Dion & Kamika Brown. These two, among several peers sponsored by their employer Lighthouse to participate in the program, volunteered for a spotlight moment during my closing keynote at their company’s annual summit.
They courageously & impactfully shared with their 1000+ colleagues how they’ve used their #PlantobeAmazing!TM created back in March to be an elevated #leader & #changeagent in their domains, & to challenge their colleagues to ensure their voice & impact are similarly bolstered.
What an incredible time working with these two impressive individuals to tease out their stories (do ask them about it – it will both impress & catalyze you to elevate too!), & then work with them to ensure we maximized their spotlight moment. So proud of both for #SteppingOfftheCurbTM in such a big venue to add rich value to the day.
Key messages embedded in their stories:
-You don’t have to have it all figured out before you speak.
-There will always be rooms where you’re the least technical, most junior, or newest person to the table.
-Step into the discomfort.
-Our voice still matters.
-Rather than sit back, engage to make things better.
-Have a position, listen to your gut, challenge status quo.
-Even without solutions, start the conversation.
-Big, organizational goals are achieved when we grow together.
Nicole & Kamika’s advice is spot-on. Be willing to be uncomfortable to be part of the solution. In this world where key calls-to-action everywhere include innovation, automation, scale, I promise you, no one has it all figured out. Every voice matters.
Love that Lighthouse has such an eye towards empowering its entire workforce to engage deeply to rise together, & that it invests so meaningfully in women’s leadership & creates spotlight moments like these.
I truly love partnering with all my clients. I do have to admit, this partnership was a standout among standouts due to the bonus opportunities afforded to work more closely & broadly with the organization. Thank you Stacy Ybarra, Molly McManus, & Ron Markezich for the partnership.
And thank you to LWT: Advancing Women in Leadership, Vanessa Garber, Sue Bunnell, & team. Over my 15-year partnership with LWT & the #WILpower program, I’ve had the privilege to invest in thousands of amazing women in Silicon Valley, New York, Seattle & beyond. I then get to witness the verticality of their upward trajectory transform, as they move from smoldering to fully ignited through thought-provoking sessions with great speakers, through participants deep investment in themselves, & through the incredible supportive and engaged WILpower community, led by an oh-so passionate volunteer board & ring leaders. Getting to work with two participants & hear how WILpower has been game changing for them, further validates the power of this amazing program.
