Green Light: The residential conversion of the former Portals I office building at 1250 Maryland Avenue SW has been approved to proceed by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts! Developed by Lowe and Henderson Park Capital Partners, this project will help to transform the Portals development in Southwest DC into a more dynamic mixed-use neighborhood, by replacing underutilized office space with approximately 430 residential apartments and 53,000 square feet of retail space. A valuable opportunity for Howard University students interested in pursuing a career in Commercial Real Estate. Earlier this week, CRE Access led another seminar for Howard University students, this time focused on affordable housing projects in D.C.
Last night the affordable housing seminar series continued at Howard University. CRE Access companies led a session about two affordable housing projects in DC. Luke Patton of Enterprise Community Partners led the presentation on Edgewood V, the 150- unit senior living project. Sarra Mohamed of WC Smith presented her companies efforts to reconstitute Terrace Manor, a 130-unit affordable housing project. It was clear to the scholars that the projects took, creativity, flexibility, and multiple capital sources to get underway. Every question was a good question. Scott J Hutter, MSRE put together this excellent session. Ralph Crozier reaffirmed the efforts that CRE Access is taking to bring awareness and opportunities to Howard University students in Commercial Real Estate. The seminar series continues October 7th.

The Lowe Oakland team volunteered at the City of Alameda Food Bank, packing meals for delivery to Alameda residents and stocking the free grocery store. Community members can pick up free groceries on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays each week. All the food is donated and free to people living or working in Alameda. We enjoyed our time together and are always grateful for an opportunity to make a difference in our local community. As a team, we continue to spread positivity and support those in need.
