In addition to being the last full day of voting for the 2024 American Association of State Troopers (AAST) Best-Looking Cruiser Contest, today is the 88th anniversary of the Louisiana State Police! Created on July 28, 1936, Louisiana State Police continues to be an organization filled with a rich history. Its humble roots stem from the combination of the State Highway Patrol and the Bureau of Identification and Investigation, which created the foundation for what is now a modern, well-equipped, and well-trained department. Throughout the decades, the men and women of the Department of Public Safety have provided vital services to our citizens, ensuring the safety of Louisiana. The department has continued this tradition through its participation in fugitive and violent crime task forces, cybercrime investigations, hurricane safety and preparedness, sexual predator apprehensions, traffic enforcement, and public education. Our motto of "Courtesy, Loyalty, Service" was adopted in 1937 and continues to reflect the core values of the organization today. Please continue your 88 years of support for the Louisiana State Police as we compete to make the top 13 entries and make it into the 2025 American Association of State Troopers (AAST) wall calendar. Voting is free and easy at the link below. Remember, you can vote on multiple devices. The contest ends at noon on Monday, July 29, 2024. Please share this post and encourage others to join in! On this Fourth of July, the Louisiana State Police wishes you a safe and joyous celebration. As we gather to commemorate the birth of our great nation let us reflect on the sacrifices made by those who have valiantly fought to protect our freedom. The Louisiana State Police strongly encourages everyone, to drive responsibly during this holiday weekend. The fact remains that the Fourth of July is one of the deadliest holiday weekends due to impaired, distracted, and fatigued driving. Your responsible driving can make a significant difference in ensuring a safe and joyous celebration for all. Troopers throughout Louisiana urge motorists to adhere to traffic laws, refrain from impaired driving, and handle fireworks responsibly. Remember to buckle up for every ride - every seat, every trip, every time. Failure to do so could have deadly consequences. We encourage motorists to report any hazardous situation, such as reckless driving, speeding, or impaired driving, to the nearest Troop by dialing *577 (*LSP) from a cellular phone or 911 to your local law enforcement agency. Let’s all work together to keep our highways safe so everyone can enjoy an Independence Day weekend filled with good memories. May this day be filled with happiness, unity, and respect for one another. Happy Independence Day from the Louisiana State Police! Louisiana Highway Safety Commission DestinationZeroDeaths #JoinLSP
