About us
Loop CO2, inc. is a green chemistry research and development startup. The company is one of the grant awardees by Department of Energy. We are specialized in developing a new class of polyester materials in the form of pellets for manufacturing consumer products from a CO2-derived monomer feedstock that is 29% CO2 by weight. The competitive advantage of our product is that the production of monomer can achieve negative carbon emissions, and initial testing of one of the resultant polyesters indicates that it is both inherently biodegradable in wastewater and chemically recyclable. Our mission is to tune up one or multiple properties of block copolymers to meet the current industry standards of thermoplastic elastomers (elongation at break > 500% and flexural yield strength < 30 MPa) and use the material at its full potential in the circular economy.

Loop CO2 is a sustainability-focused polymer development startup headquartered in Massachusetts. Founded in 2022 as a spin-out from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities & the NSF Center for Sustainable Polymers, Loop CO2 began its mission to revolutionize sustainable materials.
