Lincoln Institute in The New York Times: reporter Anna Kodé cited our President and CEO George McCarthy in a just-published article on the State of Maine’s newest and largest resident-owned manufactured housing community: https://lnkd.in/d5TW7TZB Between 2015 and 2022, McCarthy found, around 800,000 manufactured housing communities were sold to private equity investors and real estate investment trusts, more than a quarter of the total estimated number of manufactured home parks across the country. The Lincoln Institute is deeply committed to promoting manufactured housing—the largest source of unsubsidized affordable housing in the nation—as a safe, secure, and affordable path to homeownership. Our I’m HOME Network uses research, data, and multisector collaboration to keep the dream of affordable homeownership alive for those who need it most. We’re so excited about our International Land Conservation Network’s Global Congress next week! Register to attend virtually: https://lnkd.in/eb5XQfXC
As some may have gathered from my flurry of posts recently, I'm having an amazing experience in the US, and now Canada, joining conferences and meeting with conservation organisations on all things private land conservation. Next week, I’m delighted to be joining, and speaking at, the 2024 International Land Conservation Network (ILCN) Global Congress in Quebec City, co-hosted by ILCN (Lincoln Institute of Land Policy) and Nature Conservancy of Canada/Conservation de la nature Canada. The Congress will bring together private and civic land conservation experts and practitioners across six continents from 16-18 October. The exciting news is - even if you're not joining this event in person, you can register to attend virtually! More information here: https://lnkd.in/e-p4dB6M The Congress, themed “Relationships for a Resilient World”, will highlight the critical importance of cross sector organisations working together to meaningfully address the interlinked biodiversity and climate crises. It will bring together international experts sharing solutions via conservation finance, law and policy, governance, and land stewardship practices. Look forward to sharing more soon! #ILCN #privatelandconservation #ILCNglobalcongress #relationships #wholeofsociety #biodiversity #permanentprotection #climatechange #climateandbiodiversity #peerlearning #quebeccity

DAG’s Land Value Capture programme partners renew their commitment! DAG recently had the pleasure of hosting Enrique Silva, the Vice President of Programs at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, for a series of land value capture engagements across the country. This was an incredible opportunity for DAG to reconnect with key stakeholders and institutions and discuss important challenges and successes. Some of the discussion topics included: inclusionary zoning, streamlining municipal land release processes for the delivery of affordable housing, land value capture tools, and land-based financing mechanisms. The National Land Value Capture (LVC) Programme was first initiated in 2020 as a tripartite partnership between the National Treasury’s Cities Support Programme, the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, and the Development Action Group. This year, we are excited to announce that all partners have recommitted to running the programme as we continue to strengthen the capacity of South African metropolitan governments to effectively implement innovative land value capture tools and strategies. We look forward to seeing the remarkable impact of this programme!

Our I’m HOME Network hosted its annual conference in Phoenix, Arizona, last month. Centering around the theme of resilience, the conference brought together researchers, advocates, policymakers, for-profit and non-profit industry experts, and homeowners to highlight policy and technical advancements in the manufactured housing industry and promote broader adoption of this crucial form of affordable housing. A few highlights: 🎤 City of Tempe Mayor Corey Woods kicked off the conference with remarks on the city’s work to address the housing crisis, telling attendees “It is much more fun to lead than follow!” 💡 Experts led panel discussions on the intersections between manufactured housing and climate resilience financing, locally initiated and focused zoning strategies, combatting the loneliness epidemic, working with Housing Finance Agencies, and more. 🏆 Former Congressman David Price received a lifetime achievement award from the Network for his decades of leadership in the field. Throughout the conference, speakers and programming emphasized the importance of working together to effect change; taking advantage of opportunities to promote manufactured housing; the need for education on manufactured housing’s role as part of the solution to our affordable housing crisis; and the need for affordable and accessible single and multi-family financing solutions. Today’s #CityTechTuesday feature is the City of Tucson, Arizona. Every Tuesday, we’re spotlighting a city featured in Rob Walker’s recently published book “City Tech: 20 Apps, Ideas, and Innovators Changing the Urban Landscape.” The book’s ninth chapter details how Arizona’s second-largest city partnered with the Lincoln Institute’s Babbitt Center for Land and Water Policy and Chesapeake Conservancy’s Conservation Innovation Center to model how water moves across a landscape. By leveraging cutting-edge mapping and data analysis tools, the organizations were able to help city government identify flooding and climate-related risks. The chapter features perspectives from Jeffrey Allenby, GISP, who is now the director of geospatial innovation at the Lincoln Institute’s Center for Geospatial Solutions, founded in 2020.
