🎉 We were honored to be part of the Nashville Young Leaders Council (YLC) this morning! 🎉 The YLC’s fall cohort, consisting of 89 talented young leaders, attended this special event, where we had the opportunity to connect alongside 40 other nonprofit organizations. Amia’ Butler, M.A. and Nebiu Ermias had the privilege to share more about the mission of the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, discuss our volunteer opportunities, and explore ways to serve on our board. 🤝 #Nashville #YoungLeadersCouncil #LegalAidSociety #Nonprofit #BoardInternship #CommunityImpact #VolunteerOpportunity

About us
Mission Statement- Legal Aid Society's mission is to advance, defend and enforce the legal rights of low-income and vulnerable people in order to obtain for them the basic necessities of life. America was founded on the concept of equal justice for everyone. . .it is confirmed in our pledge of allegiance and it is written above the doors of many courthouses, including the Supreme Court. However, there is a gap in our system. In civil cases, people who cannot afford legal representation usually must struggle alone against complicated government programs, individuals and entities in a position of power who are taking advantage of them, and violent family members. Legal Aid Society strives to fill that gap, helping to preserve that precious, cornerstone American value of justice for all. Legal Aid Society serves these 48 counties in Middle Tennessee and the Cumberland Plateau:: Bedford, Cannon, Cheatham, Clay, Coffee, Cumberland, Davidson, Dekalb, Dickson, Fentres, Franklin, Giles, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Jackson, Lawrence, Lewis, Lincoln, Macon, Marshall, Maury, Montgomery, Moore, Overton, Perry, Pickett, Putnam, Robertson, Rutherford, Smith, Stewart, Sumner, Trousdale, Van Buren, Warren, Wayne, White, Williamson and Wilson. We have offices in Clarksville, Columbia, Cookeville, Gallatin, Murfreesboro, Nashville, Oak Ridge and Tullahoma. See our website at www.las.org for more information. Last night, YWCA friends and family gathered at HealthStream headquarters to honor the newest class of the Academy for Women of Achievement. Dozens of honorees from the past 32 years came together to celebrate a new AWA class of extraordinary women. Seven individual honorees—Ivanetta Davis Samuels, Michele Johnson, Rita Johnson-Mills, Sylvia Rapoport, Emily Reynolds, Amanda Weeks-Geveden, CWS, and Evette White—were welcomed into this prestigious circle. Ingram Industries is this year’s corporate honoree. It was an evening that reminded us of the power of community and the enduring legacy of women who lead. A heartfelt thank you to YWCA Board Chair Kendra Deas and HealthStream’s CEO and Co-Founder Bobby Frist for hosting such a memorable gathering. The official induction ceremony will be held at the Music City Center on October 24. Tickets are available at our website. https://lnkd.in/e4YUPTma
