I'm so impressed! This is Ireland’s third National Strategy for Travellers and Roma – 2 communities that experience much higher rates of economic disadvantage and social exclusion than exists for other disadvantaged communities. Low health literacy is among their many barriers. #HealthLiteracy #Empathy The new strategy addresses key issues and themes that emerged during discussions directly with Traveller and Roma community organizations, state agencies and departments, and through a comprehensive consultation process held with each community at the local level. #CommunityEngagement #DesignThinking The focus of future delivery will be on equal access to education, employment, health and housing, effectively fighting racism and discrimination, and promoting equal participation. #HealthEquity #HumanRights

Ireland shows how health literacy is linked to human rights and underserved populations by making health literacy a political priority to bridge inequity for the Roma and Traveller communities.
