L.E.A.D.'s mission is to empower Black youth to overcome crime, poverty, and racism through sport based development.
About us
L.E.A.D.'s mission is to empower an at-risk generation to lead and transform their City of Atlanta. Through the power of sport, L.E.A.D. uses baseball to educate and empower the city's most vulnerable students on how to overcome three curveballs they face in life: crime, poverty and racism. Our Pathway2Empowerment is a year round program model for 350 students in Atlanta Public Schools that focuses on four pillars: athletics, education, civic engagement and commerce. These pillars are wrapped in our six organizational core values: excellence, humility, integrity, loyalty, stewardship and teamwork. The Ambassadors who graduate from L.E.A.D. are civically engaged, compassionate leaders who are prepared to make a positive impact in the community and in any industry they choose.

On September 1, 1971, the Pittsburgh Pirates made baseball history by fielding the first all-Black lineup of African-American and Latino players. This was more than just a game; it was a powerful statement of inclusion and breaking barriers in sports. At LEAD Center For Youth, we carry that same spirit forward, using the game of baseball to empower our young leaders to defy odds and create a legacy of excellence. Just as Willie Stargell, Roberto Clemente, and their teammates did, our youth are writing their own stories of resilience and triumph. #LEADCenterForYouth #BreakingBarriers #BaseballHistory #EmpoweringYouth
