October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month! We will share accessibility tips throughout the month. Courtesy of Office of Disability Employment Policy. Here are a few tips for making social media more accessible. - Write social media posts informally and in plain language. Avoid abbreviations and spell out acronyms. - Use @mentions to tag other organizations on social media and use relevant hashtags on keywords and phrases to categorize posts. - For multi-word hashtags, capitalize the first letters of each section of a compound word (#LikeThisExample). - Provide closed captioning for YouTube videos. You can do this automatically, or you can add and edit captions manually. What tips do you have? Learn more at dol.gov/NDEAM. #NDEAM

Celebrating Excellence in Workforce Development I'm honored to share a significant achievement for our department as Workforce Development Month comes to a close: Larimer County Economic and Workforce Development has been awarded the inaugural Excellence in Workforce Award by Colorado Department of Labor and Employment! This recognition, which we share with three other regions in Colorado, celebrates our 8-year public/private partnership in workforce development. Mark A. Johnston, Economic and Workforce Director, accepted the awards on behalf of our department, both at the state level from Colorado Department of Labor and Employment and locally from Larimer County Board of Commissioners. This recognition highlights the impact of our collaborative efforts in workforce development and the success of the NoCo Manufacturing Partnership. Specifically, highlighting a Fort Collins based employer Fiberlock for their outstanding mentorship program. Their commitment to providing valuable internship experiences has led to post-internship placement offers, This award is a testament to the hard work of many.
