25 Projects for 25 Years! Twenty-five miles from Nashville lies Osburn Farm, an oasis of rolling hills, fertile agricultural land, and healthy forests that has been in the Osburn family for five generations. Thanks to Mary Louise “Lou” Osburn Benson's foresight, the 112-acre farm is now permanently protected with The Land Trust for Tennessee. Today, three generations live on this Tennessee Century Farm, producing hay, cattle, and horses, and receiving recognition for agricultural sustainability. Ginger Shirling, now the owner and steward of the property, carries on her mother’s vision. Reflecting on her deep connection to the land, Ginger recalled spending her childhood summers on the farm with her grandmother. “The farm was a constant. It was always my secure spot,” she said. This year marks a significant milestone for The Land Trust for Tennessee—our 25th anniversary! For a quarter-century, we’ve been working tirelessly to protect Tennessee’s most cherished landscapes, ensuring they remain vibrant and beautiful for generations to come. To celebrate this special anniversary, we’re launching our 25 for 25 Initiative. Because we're a donor-funded organization, we’re asking supporters like you to help us secure the future of our state’s natural beauty and character. By signing up for a $25 monthly recurring donation in honor of our 25th anniversary, you will directly impact our mission of protecting the lands we all love, from rolling farmland to pristine forests. Thank you to our summer Conservation & Stewardship intern, Luke Latto! Luke graduated this year from the Environment & Sustainability program at Sewanee: The University of the South. Luke helped our team with a little bit of everything. In the office, his work was incredibly helpful to our Conservation & Stewardship team. His college coursework and experience in GIS and data analysis allowed him to jump right in and assist with multiple data compilation and research projects. Digging through complex legal documents, Luke extracted important information and turned it into functional geographic data, refining and clarifying the boundaries of protected land to make them more enforceable in perpetuity. All of this information assists our team in effectively stewarding our protected lands on into the future. Luke also braved the summer heat and monitored several properties (including large swaths of protected forestland near his alma mater!) and even got to pick some wild blueberries along the way. Our staff is always inspired to see the next generation of passionate conservationists. Thank you, Luke, for your contributions to The Land Trust! #Conservation #LandTrustTN #SoutheastTN #Sewanee

Many thanks to this Colonial Pipeline Company for donating this vehicle that we can use in our stewardship work!
We are excited to grow our trusted partnership with The Land Trust for Tennessee, an environmental conservation organization that works with landowners and communities across the state to protect more than 100,000 acres of land important to people in 70-plus counties. To help with their mission, we recently donated a Colonial fleet vehicle so they can continue their environmental conservation work throughout the state. We're proud to be a #TrustedPartner in the communities where we live and work. #OneColonial #EnvironmentalPartner
