Inspiring the Next Generation of Manufacturers As we celebrate National Manufacturing Month, it's important to recognize the sector's impact on the U.S. economy. Manufacturing contributes $2.87 trillion in value added, accounting for 10.1% of the GDP in Q1 2024. This industry employs 13 million people across over 244,000 companies, with average annual earnings of $98,846. Remarkably, 74% of these firms have fewer than 20 employees, highlighting the potential for growth and creativity in smaller settings. The sector is poised for expansion, with 8 million new positions expected by 2034. Manufacturing leads in research and development, responsible for 53% of all private-sector R&D in the U.S. Its global impact is clear, with $1.6 trillion worth of goods exported in 2023. Join us in inspiring a new generation of manufacturers to drive this vital industry forward during National Manufacturing Month. Data sourced from the National Association of Manufacturers.
