Established in 1989, the Kentucky Lottery was the first lottery in the United States to be implemented as a corporation. Our mission is clear – we fuel imagination and fund education for ALL Kentuckians. This is done through lottery proceeds funding college scholarship and grant programs with over $7 Billion in funding since 1999, including every dime ever awarded in the popular KEES Scholarship program. In order to do this, our plan is based on a structure which represents our operation. The most important part of our structure is the top - Proceeds, represented by the scholarship and grant programs we fund. There's something strange in our neighborhood at The Kentucky Lottery Corporation in West Louisville. We have "slimed" our building to promote our spooky collection of Halloween games. We are always looking for fun and exciting ways to engage our players and neighbors. I got to get a photo in front of the slime today with one of our winners and join staff as we celebrated our colorful building and our neighbor, Caufield's Novelties, Louisville's Halloween headquarters since 1920. The Kentucky Lottery Corporation works hand in hand with the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) to ensure scholarships and grants funded by the Lottery are available to Kentucky's students and families. I had a great visit with KHEAA staff working the Kentucky State Fair to provide families information about educational opportunities in all 120 counties across the state.

As a proud sponsor of the Kentucky State Fair and partner with Kentucky Venues, the Kentucky Lottery Corporation is displaying the faces of Kentucky students who have benefited from one of the seven scholarships and grants we fund. Since 1999, we have funded more than $5 billion for these educational opportunities. The exhibit is located at the South Wing B Hall entrance. Several Lottery team members and board member David Figg visited the exhibit the first day of the fair.
We have a strong partnership with Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC in our mission to fund scholarships and grants for Kentucky students and families. We had members of the Kentucky Lottery team, Jennifer Luhrs, Terry Sebastian, and Matt Nichols, attend the annual LouCity and Racing Partnership Summit at Lynn Family Stadium.

I had the pleasure of presenting Circle K in Crestwood Kentucky off Highway 22 a check for $100,000 today for selling Kentucky's first $10 million Powerball Double Play winning ticket from the June 24 draw. Kentucky is only the third state to sell this type of ticket in the nation. We are so excited about this $10 million win, both for our player and for longtime retailer Crestwood Circle K.
