✏️ When drafting your Air Terminal Unit (ATU) specifications, consider these essential steps. 1. Max Inlet Pressure: Specify the maximum inlet static pressure for all ATUs to ensure you receive the manufacturer's accurate sound level data. 2. Pressure Drop Limits: Define the maximum allowable pressure drop for the ATUs. 3. Noise Criteria: Provide a range or the maximum desired Noise Criteria in accordance with AHRI 885 for the units being scheduled. 4. Flow Range Validation: Ensure the specified flow range for ATUs is achievable. Different manufacturers have varying performance due to a variety of factors. Therefore, when designing a schedule, include maximum and minimum flow rates (including fan and heating airflow). 5. Manufacturer Data: Use published performance data or software from manufacturers to gather accurate parameters, as performance can differ due to coil designs. All performance metrics have a give-and-take relationship with each other; therefore, avoid over-defining the schedule. By following these guidelines, you can ensure your VAV schedules are effective and that you select the right units for your specific applications. #mechanicalengineering #hvac #airdistribution

👀 SEE THE INVISIBLE! Hop on over to our YouTube channel to watch our displacement ventilation video. In it, we show how the cold supply air enters the occupied zone, finds a heat source, and begins to lift and exhaust out of the space. https://on.jci.com/46UTvEw #mechanicalengineering #hvac #airdistribution

High air change rates are critical when minimizing spread of infections in a hospital. Krueger's RFCRFF-E-ARSM is great way to increase air changes within a space. It works by drawing room air into the unit, where it passes through a HEPA filter and is returned back into the room. It can also be used for Airborne Infectious Isolation rooms, given its ability to clean room air before exhausting it from the room. Ever wonder what it means to anodize a product? In simple terms, it’s the process of taking aluminum (or other nonferrous metal) and immersing it in an acid electrolyte bath while passing an electric current through it. The chemical reaction, which is effectively a form of highly controlled oxidation, results in a surface that is not only decorative, but more durable and more corrosion resistant. What’s most interesting is that during the process, the surface becomes very porous. This is what allows additional processes, like coloring and sealing. (For those that are curious, we offer clear; black; as well as light, medium, and dark bronze colors.) 👉APPLICATION TIP! Single duct air terminal units require a minimum static pressure from the air handler to overcome the pressure loss of the airflow sensor, damper, and reheat coils. Generally, this is as a low as 0.25" or 0.5". Keeping inlet static pressure as low as possible reduces load and energy usage at the air handler and minimizes generated noise at the terminal unit. However, it is common to see designs for terminal unit inlet static much higher than necessary, anywhere from 1" - 2.5". This could force the air handler to operate at a higher speed, use more energy, and result in higher generated noise from the terminal unit. A well defined, proper control sequence can reduce unnecessary static pressure and maintain peak efficiency of the system.
