This week, Kolbe was thrilled to welcome area middle school students to the Wausau plant as part of the annual Heavy Metal Tour for National Manufacturing Day. Kolbe Team Members met with the students to share their fulfilling experiences in window and door manufacturing and testing, hoping to inspire the next generation of craftspeople. Special thanks to the Central Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance (CWIMA) for helping Kolbe offer this unique learning opportunity to local students again this year.

“We lay out the floorplan relative to the site and the relationships we want to create, for example, with the lake. We’re envisioning the whole entry and how you approach the house. The window areas become this thin line that separates the two. As you go along, it’s not just a thin line; we try to make that into a reality.” -- Jeremy Imhoff, Imprint Architecture and Design, Inc. "The windows are the feature of the home. It needed to be full daylight and deliver the intended visual effect. They complement, parallel, and span the storyline of this house. There are big walls of glass that are 10 feet and higher, and that move and open to the outdoors. At this size, they cease to become just windows." -- Justin Tollefson, AIA, Principal of Pearson Design Group, Inc.
