About us
KUSD believes all students will have an equal opportunity to prepare for college and/or careers with the support of highly qualified educators in a learning environment that is resource rich, safe, and welcoming. The Kenosha Unified School District was created in 1967. The District includes the City of Kenosha, Village of Pleasant Prairie, and Town and Village of Somers. While it is called the Kenosha Unified School District, it is actually a common school district and holds an annual meeting of electors.

Whittier Elementary School recently hosted a successful 3K Run/Walk designed to foster community spirit while promoting health and wellness. In the weeks before the event, students trained during gym class, building their endurance and stamina. The training also supported their academic efforts, demonstrating the connection between physical fitness and learning. The event was made possible through the generous support of community volunteers, including members of the Pleasant Prairie Police and Fire Departments, whose efforts ensured a safe and enjoyable experience for all. A heartfelt thank you to all participants, volunteers, and attendees for making this event a true celebration of teamwork and community! #KUSDproud

Curtis Strange Elementary School fifth graders tested their knowledge of Newton's Laws of Motion, potential and kinetic energy, the scientific method, and more by launching handmade rockets. This event has provided 23 years of hands-on learning thanks to staff and community support. Regarding the rockets the students built, Enzo G.C. shared, "When lit, the engine will shoot up, hitting the engine fan, which launches the rockets into the air. It will spin out of control because of the fans, which cause enough air to loosen up the nose cone and fly down safely because of the parachute." Families also came to enjoy the excitement.
