Thank you, Tom, for your great piece in Fermentation “Wine Can Help Solve the Loneliness Epidemic.” You have perfectly synthesized what Come Over October is all about. Since conceiving the campaign, I have been struck by two phenomena: 1. people who don't know each other well, are often friends after sharing wine and 2. when you ask someone to name the wine that was the most impactful in their life, they always remember who they were with when they had that wine. Wine is a kind of social glue. It implies togetherness, as you point out. The entire history of the 750 ml bottle is based on a minimum of two people coming together to share. I am personally grateful for wine's mysterious ability to connect us. My life has been far richer because of wine.
