Dr. Karah Sprouse is a Generational Engagement Consultant and Assistant Professor of Business at Cumberland University. Her award-winning generational workplace research and experience working closely with thousands of Gen Z university students has ignited her passion to maximize this youngest generation’s potential across a wide breadth of organizations. Karah is deeply knowledgeable about what drives and engages Gen Z, especially in collaboration with colleagues from earlier generations. Her prior professional experiences include industry giants such as LexisNexis and Underwriters Laboratories where she led ambitious multi-year projects and skillfully managed diverse, intergenerational teams. All of these roles have culminated in her mission to empower organizations to Bridge the Gap with Gen Z and help all generations thrive together.

For the first time in over ten years, I will not be headed back to this beautiful campus and its amazing community of faculty, staff, and students in August. While I truly cannot imagine a better way to spend the last decade of my career, the opportunities in front of me speak to the same calling that I have held in my heart since day one - a genuine belief in this generation and a passion to mentor, support, and help in their development however I can. I am forever grateful for Cumberland University's support in this next chapter and for entrusting me with the truly inspirational students that I have known and loved for many years. They really are my "kids" as so many have impacted my life even more so than I have hoped to touch theirs. While I won't be unlocking my office door in a few weeks to greet students, I will still be busy helping them prepare for their future. The rest of the year will be filled with lots of exciting keynotes and leadership workshops as well as some other really amazing offerings that I can't share quite yet. ;) Thank you for following along on this journey! I truly believe that the best is yet to come!

As we welcome new generations of team members, we must always strive to create a nurturing and welcoming environment for them to come together and achieve our shared mission — honoring those we serve by delivering the best possible care. Recently, we had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Karah Sprouse, a generational engagement consultant, to speak with Johnson City Medical Center and Niswonger Children's Hospital team members at our Empowering Gen Z event. Dr. Sprouse spoke to managers, directors and LevelUp program participants. Our new LevelUp program for Johnson City Medical Center and Niswonger Children’s Hospital empowers, educates and helps grow current team members as aspiring leaders — addressing discussions like: 🤝 Bridging the gap among different generations in the workforce 🤝 How do we connect, collaborate and work with each generational group? 🤝 How to preserve the work already done while bringing in new ideas for the future These engaging conversations opened the door to further cross-functional team discussions, ultimately leaving us with practical takeaways to apply to each of our teams regarding how to equip and empower Generation Z.
