Our CFO Jim Sparks was quoted in a new article on the popular financial news website PYMNTS concerning the potential impact of AI on senior executives in his role. Jim points out in the article, however, that while adoption of Generative AI technology, such as ChatGPT, among CFOs may be new, other types of AI have been used in financial senior management for years with success. “In a perfect world, I think artificial intelligence won’t replace humans,” Jim told the publication. “But it will make humans more effective by unlocking insights and making projections more accurate.” The full article is available here: https://lnkd.in/gBdCWfSQ | #AI #GenerativeAI #AIinHealthcare #AIinFinance #CompanyNews

Dual-eligible beneficiaries – older adults receiving both Medicare and Medicaid – tend to pay less out-of-pocket for their prescription drugs when they enroll in Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) versus only receiving traditional Medicare benefits, according to study results released this summer in JAMA Health Forum. Researchers note that D-SNP enrollees who received a higher level of care coordination and benefits integration for the two government-funded programs also tended to have a better experience of care than beneficiaries in less-integrated D-SNPs or who received Medicare alone. Enrollees in more integrated D-SNPs also report less overall financial burden, although out-of-pocket spending between the two types of dual-eligible managed care programs was largely identical. Although Medicaid provides health and long-term care coverage to 1 in 5 low-income Americans, state spending on enrollees varies widely, according to a new report by KFF (formerly Kaiser Family Foundation). The report shows that per-enrollee spending on average was $7,593 in 2021, but was as low as $3,023 on average for children and as much as $18,923 for older adults. Spending also varied widely within states for the same type of enrollee. For example, the lowest-cost enrollees with a disability in Virginia cost the state as little as $16,051 to as much as $127,703 in 2021. KFF researchers attribute the range of spending, in part, to the wide flexibility states have to determine Medicaid eligibility levels, benefits and provider payments. These unprecedented challenges are exacerbated by the Inflation Reduction Act and Maximum Fair Price regulations. Our Chief Strategy Officer Daryl Todd will offer insight on how to navigate these uncertain waters during a webinar on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, where he will share how advanced technology can help stakeholders ensure compliance, manage drug discounts efficiently, and restore trust across the complex pharmaceutical landscape. Modern Healthcare explores the many healthcare policies, programs and regulations that could be impacted by the recent U.S. Supreme Court Chevron ruling limiting federal agencies’ authority, including the 340B Drug Pricing Program. For the overview, the publication’s staff interviewed healthcare law and policy experts, one of whom suggested that, without new legislation, the continued lawsuits and conflicting lower court rulings concerning the program may lead to the Supreme Court deciding its fate. https://lnkd.in/g3dvC_hp #340B #340BReform #Chevron #GenesisRuling #HRSA
