WHY GAMING SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED and RESPECTED AS MUCH AS TRADITIONAL SPORTS. UNDER 2% OF ALL TRADITIONAL ATHLETES HAVE MADE A LIVING GOING PRO. Think of how many people play sports and never go pro, or make money playing. Meanwhile 50% of gamers have made money gaming. Not to mislead anyone, out of that 50%, the average person has only made $1,264 within the past 12 months. But, it’s not bout the amount, it’s about the possibilities and the opportunities. Not everyone has the physical ability to play football or basketball, etc. - but anyone can game. Anyone can make a living gaming. You don’t even have to be a gamer to be in the business of gaming. Just like you don’t have to rap to be in the music business, or act to be in the movie making business. The Global Gaming League is here to open up the doors to create even more pathways and opportunities for those that never have or thought they could make a living through gaming. Everybody games. We built an incredible gaming and entertainment company for EVERYBODY! GET FAMILIAR. #getfamiliar #everybodygames #globalgamingleague #gaming #gamerlife #gamer #lifestyle #career #passion #videogames #ggl

Some may not know this about me: I ran hurdles in high school. There’s something incredibly satisfying about clearing a stretch of obstacles with speed and finesse. I was also fortunate to be coached by athletes who competed at an Olympic level themselves. With good coaching, I often placed first in my races, which is why I get so excited whenever the summer Olympics arrive. The events beautifully combine athletes’ backstories, international travel, world competition, and technological innovation. Whew…I still get butterflies just watching it all unfold! But what does this have to do with leadership? While the world fawns over photo finishes, those in the know focus on the start. There’s an intriguing story about the start, thanks to a sprinter from a bygone era. The story of Charlie Booth and his revolutionary starting blocks offers valuable lessons about setting the stage for success. Curious how Booth’s innovation exudes leadership? Read my article, “Hit The Ground Running,” and discover key lessons from Booth’s journey that will inspire you to create the right conditions for yourself, your team, or your business to thrive. #Leadership #Innovation #Success #Teamwork #StartingBlocks #CharlieBooth #SummerOlympics

What an incredible two weeks! Last Friday, I wrapped up my first Playmaker Game Design Camp. How did we do? I’m still going through all the great photos we’ve taken, but I think this picture says it all. Seeing kids come out of their shells as they unveiled their games and the gratitude from parents as they played… priceless. When creating the Playmaker program, I wasn’t sure how it would resonate with the kids. We had a range of ages and skill sets, and game design is deep, rich, and complex. But kids everywhere consume games at a high rate. So, I met them where they were, taking a people-first approach to introduce them to game design. The draw of games is evident, but do they know why they are so compelling? During the camp, I emphasized the importance of creating a good story and conflict. We talked about the mechanics of a great game. Whether building a game with paper or with code, I encouraged them to move from overthinking to building together so we could physically playtest their ideas. And then we playtested again. And again! Each time learning and making the games better. The proudest moment? There were times when, given the choice to play Nintendo or be on their phones, they chose to play the board games they created with each other. Score! And speaking of playtesting… I need to transition into my upcoming game release for Jubileague. I will indeed review my notes and photos to do a proper recap of this experience with those who helped me pull this off. Then we’ll plan for the next iteration. So stick close! We have a winner in Playmaker, and you’ll be seeing more of it. Keep creating the future you want to live in! We are well into week two of the Playmaker Game Design Camp. This week, I’m introducing the campers to native game development with Apple’s Swift programming language. Last week, we created physical board games as prototypes, but this week, we’re exploring how to develop those games for virtual reality or spatial computing devices. Even though they’ve never coded in Swift before (although a couple of campers have used Scratch), they are leaning in, learning fast, and having fun. Even the concepts that they find tough to grasp are turning into friendly banter and competition. I’m also teaching them history by sharing stories of Black pioneers in the video game industry. I added this to the curriculum because it’s difficult to aspire to something you cannot see. When it gets hard (like their first day of learning Swift), you need something inside you that pushes you to go harder.
