Clinical and support resources for Jewish LGBTQ youth, with a focus on teens from orthodox homes.
About us
JQY supports and empowers LGBTQ youth in the Jewish community, with a special focus on those from Orthodox, Chassidic, and Sephardi/Mizrachi homes. JQY promotes the mental health, emotional well-being and physical safety of these individuals by providing national crisis, communal, and advocacy resources, as well as in-person support programming in New York. We envision a reality in which LGBTQ youth from all Jewish communities have access to resources that allow them to feel safe, welcomed, and celebrated. We dream of a world where no young person, regardless of the religious affiliation of their upbringing, suffers from rejection, isolation, or shame.

Excited to share that JQY has been selected as a BREAKWEEK grantee, an opportunity powered by R&R: The rest of our lives that provides our entire staff with resources and funding to implement a 1-week organization-wide closure. Our team is planning to do our org-wide BREAKWEEK in January 2025, and are honored by the investment to continue strengthening our culture and supporting our team in accessing new avenues of rest and recovery this year.
Thrilled to announce R&R's 15 BREAKWEEK Grantees! 📣 Big congrats to Footsteps, Inc, Mishkan Chicago, JQY, SRE Network, Sacred Spaces, Interfaith Philadelphia, TAMID Group, NCJW Inc, Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life (ISJL), Penn State Hillel, Temple Ohabei Shalom, Nefesh LA, SVARA, Jewish Family Services of Greater Hartford (JFS) & Women in Reform Judaism. There's 250 staff across these orgs that will be impacted by their BREAKWEEK! Paired with grant funds, coaching support and implementation resources, BREAKWEEK grantees will close their organization for 1-week for their entire team, at the same time, between August ‘24 - February ‘25. This grant honors these organizations’ deep commitment to strengthening its culture and supporting its employees in accessing new avenues of rest and recovery this year. Join us in congratulating these orgs, and share in the comments if your org has tried a BREAKWEEK and the impact it has had on you/your team! More info on our pilot: https://lnkd.in/eBKEWWfh 💡 ---- DYK?? Organizational-wide closures are a proven practice that have been utilized across sectors to promote habits of wellbeing, retention and productivity, and combat burn-out, attrition and exhaustion. Rest-based interventions, such as this, are a critical part of equity work, defining organizational culture and giving all team members agency to help make their day-to-day feel sustainable. The more we normalize rest as an integral part of the workplace (not just an added bonus for a lucky few!), the more effective and sustainable our talent and organizations will be. #futureofwork #organizationalculture #breakweek #restequalshope #orgwidevacation

"Wearing a Star of David necklace or a yarmulke today feels exactly the same to me as hanging a rainbow flag or sporting a Pride pin. Both are acts of resilience and expressions of identity in the face of adversity. They send a clear message: We are stronger than you think and we are not going anywhere." - Rachael Fried, Executive Director of JQY
