Chief Members recently got an exclusive preview of the season two premiere of Roku’s Side Hustlers and a chance to chat with co-hosts Ashley Graham and Emma Grede. Side Hustlers chronicles the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. It follows founders as they pursue new ideas and instincts, reach new audiences, and work toward product-market fit — all while balancing the endless demands of life outside of business. While running and scaling your own business is not for the faint of heart, Emma, Founder and Serial Entrepreneur, and Ashley, model and entrepreneur, remind women founders that it’s much easier done in community with peers. To build that community, take a page from Emma’s book and ask yourself: “What have you done to support another woman today? Investment is one strategy, but sharing relationships, contacts, and making introductions are just as important.”

Calling Black women leaders like Kamala Harris “DEI hires,” isn’t just out-of-touch, it’s flat out wrong. Competence and hard work — not preferential treatment based on gender and racial identity — are behind every Black woman’s rise to leadership.

When it comes to getting promoted, the odds are stacked against women. While they receive consistently higher performance ratings than colleagues in similar roles, the same manager will rate their potential 8.3% lower. As a result, women are 14% less likely to be promoted, according to researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. So, how can executive women put themselves in the best possible position to receive the promotions they deserve? Swipe to discover insights from former President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises Lisa Lutoff-Perlo. Read an excerpt from Lisa Lutoff-Perlo’s new book “Making Waves: A Woman’s Rise to the Top Using Smarts, Heart and Courage” at the link in our comments.

When a powerful woman makes history, powerful women show up to support. Last week, Chief Members came together at our Clubhouses across the country to watch Kamala Harris become the first Black and South Asian American woman to accept a major party’s presidential nomination — history in action.
