On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress ratified the Declaration of Independence, establishing the United States as a separate entity from the British monarchy. This monumental decision was fueled by over a decade of grievances and armed conflict, driven by the colonists' demand for representation and self-governance. The American Revolution could have ended in defeat, but the determination, tactics, alliances, and occasional strokes of luck led to the successful defense of the new nation. Today, we are fortunate to live in the world's largest and longest-tenured representative democracy. As we celebrate this Fourth of July, let's take a moment to honor the commitment and sacrifice of those who fought for our independence, and recognize the boldness of the Declaration's signers. #HappyIndependenceDay #FourthofJuly #MeetJMT #AECIndustry

JMT Architecture was proud to be part of the groundbreaking for the 64,800 GSF Stem Center / School of Nursing at East Central University (ESU) in Ada, Oklahoma. JMT Architecture, as Associate Architect to The McKinney Partnership Architects of Norman, Oklahoma, is programming, planning, and designing this new facility to expand both STEM and Health Science opportunities in southeast Oklahoma. The new building provides much-needed flexible dry lab spaces for interdisciplinary science and math education supported by a variety of active-learning classrooms. These additional environments expand and support existing STEM programs in two adjacent science buildings creating a new science quadrant for ECU. The new building provides The School of Nursing with an impressive array of high-fidelity simulation labs outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and media capture. This suite of labs coupled with a suite of medium-fidelity skills labs well positions the school for continued growth through enhanced recruitment of students and faculty. The new building anchors the northern edge of campus and sets a vision for the future of East Central University. #healthscience #nursingschool #stemcenter

Our JMT staff proudly celebrated the fourth award for the Central Avenue Streetscape and Harbor Point Connector Bridge at the American Society of Civil Engineers Maryland Section member appreciation and awards event on June 13. This Baltimore project was honored as ASCE-MD's Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement over $20 million. JMT served as the lead engineer for the City of Baltimore’s first design-build project, encompassing eight blocks of streetscape improvements along Central Avenue and a new bridge extending the street across part of the Inner Harbor to Harbor Point. The streetscape project revitalized Central Avenue, transforming it from an outdated industrial corridor into a dynamic, multimodal complete street. JMT spearheaded the engineering and design services, managed permitting activities, and ensured design quality control and assurance, with Allan Myers serving as the contractor. The Central Avenue project previously received an Award of Excellence over $5 million at the annual Maryland Quality Initiative (MdQI) event in February, the Excellence in Construction award at the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Chesapeake Shores event in 2023, and the Outstanding New Short Span Bridge award from the Association for Bridge Construction & Design (ABCD) - Susquehanna Chapter in 2019. Congratulations to all who contributed toward this multiple award-winning project! #MeetJMT #ProjectAward #AECIndustry #Engineering #BridgeDesign
