What an incredible experience at the Women in Ophthalmology (WIO) 2024 Summer Symposium! Over three days, we proudly stood alongside passionate women ophthalmologists, celebrating their successes, and exploring ways to elevate female leadership in the field. Our leaders Lori Tierney and Erin Powers, delivered powerful presentations that resonated deeply with attendees, sparking important conversations on how to create more inclusive and equitable opportunities in eye care. Their voices, along with those of other dynamic speakers, and participants, inspired many to envision a future where women are not only represented but are leading in every aspect of the profession. In the next spotlight of our #VisionMadePossible Visionaries series, meet Navneet Gill, a principal engineer for surgical vision lasers and software. She has been a leader behind the verification and validation of the ELITA™ Femtosecond Laser System, from when it was just a prototype to it being available in select markets*. Her role is intrinsically collaborative, working alongside teammates from ideation to launch. Navneet plays a critical behind-the-scenes role in bringing forth the latest innovations in corneal refractive technology @Johnson & Johnson. With a curious mindset that keeps her motivated, she strives to continue developing safe products for patients worldwide and is excited about the potential of AI tools in streamlining processes.
