I recently had the privilege of visiting Joan & Irwin Jacobs Center for Health Innovation @ UC San Diego Health’s newly launched Mission Control Center. Meeting with the visionary Christopher Longhurst, and seeing the Center’s newly launched collaborative prototype environment was exciting and insightful. What stood out for me were the practical and effective ways they approached initiatives and strategies, from offering Lean training at scale to improve everyone’s problem-solving process, to evaluating new data analytic requests with both short- and long-term perspectives. I was then able to explore their framework, design, and business processes, as well as the infrastructure needed to integrate data analysis with seamless communication, real-time metrics, AI strategies, and actionable alerts to predict bottlenecks, mobilize response teams, and enhance patient care. I’ll be bringing a lot of insights back to the Centre for Health Analytics at The Royal Children's Hospital, where we are continuing to drive existing and innovative advancements in pediatric care and public health.
