Jooyeon Kim's (‘22M) key insight was that she didn't require a B.B.A. from JMU to be considered for the university's M.S. in Accounting program. She also learned that enrollment in the program would provide her with access to stellar enrichment opportunities. Congratulations to the JMU chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma. It has been named a recipient of "Highest Honors" from the BGS Board of Governors, based on its responses to the annual chapter survey. Special words of commendation go to Chapter Advisor Molly Brown and to Alison Huber, administrator for the chapter. The chapter is being recognized on the Beta Gamma Sigma website, at BGS events and in key publications such as the "Recognition of Excellence" program, which is distributed at AACSB’s International Conference & Meeting and other AACSB events.

The IT Consulting course involves over 25 firms who mentor, teach and judge student work. Over the last five years, these firms have later hired 240 CIS graduates and provided over 75 internships to CIS majors! We're so grateful to our alumni and friends and to Tom Dillon for coordinating this experience for the students. Rhonda Syler
JMU places an emphasis on engaged learning! Our CIS434 IT Consulting class is recognized for the large number of James Madison University alumni and friends that "engage" by teaching classroom topics. This fall Jackie Bruner from Booz Allen Hamilton; Ryan C. Madden from Dev Technology Group, Inc.; Becky Slagle, MBA, PMP, LSS Green Belt from KPMG US; Michael Carter from Fortreum; Elizabeth Drouilhet Sampson from Peraton; and Betsy Santi-Roane, Jeff Davidson, and Ajmir Abedy from Accenture will lead off as our guest presenters during September and October. This is a fantastic group of alumni and friends that bring excellence to our students. The best way to learn about consulting is to be taught by consultants! The CIS & BSAN program and the JMU College of Business are thankful for our alumni and friends that share their time and talent. This will be a great semester.

Paula Polglase (ʼ92, ʼ96M), director of Alumni Relations at JMU, says many benefits accrue to young alums from their involvement in local chapters. “It’s a great way,” she said, “to get to know your area as a young adult and to socialize and network with multiple generations of Dukes.” Read about one recent graduates experience here: https://lnkd.in/ePqHtDZ7 JMU Alumni Association James Madison University John McGrinder Jamie Prince Bryan Roberts Samantha Collier

What a wonderful experience as part of the COB 300 course abroad.
Today I had the amazing opportunity to visit NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. We had the pleasure of discussing with public diplomat, Megan Minnion, director of nuclear deterrence, Jim Stokes, and United States Mission Political Officer to NATO, David A. Epstein 🎗️. It was a pleasure to learn about a range of topics from transatlantic relations, the upcoming Summit in Washington DC, and current counter-terrorism efforts. Huge thank you to James Madison University, and the University of Antwerp for organizing such a special day!
