The JT Family is heartbroken over the loss of our former colleague and dear friend, Valerie Corr Hanserd. Valerie joined the JT family in 2001, where she worked on a variety of clients from government to nonprofit, and even staffed a few big events. It was at JT where Valerie’s spark for politics and civic engagement was ignited as she spent time working for then Senator Barack Obama. In 2004, Valerie left JT to follow her passion and join Senator Obama’s election campaign. We were thrilled to later have an opportunity to work with Valerie for another decade or more, this time as our client, as the head of communications, advocacy and public affairs for bp. Valerie had a wry sense of humor, a great strategic mind and brought an energy and positive spirit to everything and everyone she worked with. Our hearts are with her family and friends, and everyone whose lives were touched by hers. She will be greatly missed.

“As a divided nation, experiencing often vitriolic polarization, it is encouraging and indeed inspiring that Republicans are not just willing but eager to step up and speak out — to put policy differences aside for the sake of our freedoms and everything we hold dear.” JT Chairman and founder Rick Jasculca penned a new letter to the editor in this week’s Chicago Sun-Times, looking back at last week’s Democratic National Convention and the courage of those who put country over party. 🔗 Read the full piece online here: https://lnkd.in/gSWtEaZc #DNCChicago #DNC2024 #Chicago #Democracy

We were delighted to host the annual all-day media training intensive for this year’s participants in the Illinois Women's Institute for Leadership Training Academy program at our (new!) office!🏛️🎥 The IWIL Training Academy prepares and trains Democratic, pro-choice women to run for elected office, seek public appointments and govern effectively at all levels in Illinois. Each year, the program accepts a diverse class of twelve women from around the state, and provides them with the expertise, tools and support needed to run successful campaigns and lead in their communities. 🗳️🇺🇸 JT Executive Vice President Holly Bartecki (Maiter) led the day with presentations on tips to prepare for and stay on message during media interviews, as well as with individual interview feedback for the customized scenarios assigned to all participants. Our Digital Director Morgan McDonough gave a presentation on media tools and tactics, while also playing reporter 🎤in mock interviews with Account Assistant Megan Coogan and Junior Account Executive Claire Tatman. We’re so proud to provide these services year after year. 💙

Our Founder Jim Terman was featured in the Chicago Sun-Times👏🏽 With the upcoming Democratic National Convention, Jim took a look back at his time as a DNC volunteer when he was a sophomore in college. He drove an attendee to the convention every day in exchange for a volunteer opportunity to distribute paper copies of press releases to reporters. The opportunity jumpstarted Jim’s career politics, campaigning for senate candidates, attending law school, working at the White House, and eventually launching Jasculca Terman Strategic Communications! 🙌 Today, Jim uses his experience to provide his government affairs expertise to clients across the country. Show some love to Jim in the comments! 💙🤍 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/gNNwK48k
