About us
Contracts for Innovation, formerly known as The Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI), offers innovative organisations the chance to work directly with the public sector to solve complex challenges. The funding mechanism is flexible and there are no limits on the size or type of organisations who can apply, including: Start-ups, small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) and large organisations Higher education institutes (HEIs) and research and technology organisations (RTOs) Not-for-profits and charities Innovate UK are custodians of the mechanism and support public sector organisations in its adoption. This can include running an end-to-end process on their behalf or helping organisations to understand the process and run their own funding schemes. We have a handy animation of how the mechanism works and the unique benefits.
