Honored to have represented IRU at the Ministerial Meeting of the League of Arab States in #Egypt, where road safety and environmental protection took center stage! In our mission to protect human lives and the environment, IRU proposed a Joint Protocol to harmonize standards for transporting dangerous goods by road across the Arab region. Thrilled to share that the proposal received unanimous approval from the council of transport ministers! This milestone sets us on an exciting journey towards implementing safer, more sustainable transport practices across the region. Looking forward to the work ahead as we drive meaningful changes! #RoadSafety #SustainableTransport #ArabLeague #ADR

𝗜𝗥𝗨 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 To better understand and report on the issues and opportunities facing road transport operators worldwide on the road to #NetZero, we need to collect and analyse data from the ground. To this end, we have launched a Global Green Compact Survey to measure the current actions taken by our sector to #decarbonise. The survey – available in 21 languages – takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Share and complete the survey ➡️ https://go.iru.org/PU

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗲 On the opening day of the Conftransporto International Forum, IRU’s Secretary General underscored the #resilience that #roadtransport brings to communities and businesses during unstable times. Umberto de Pretto said, “This commitment to resilience is what led to the creation of the #IRUCharter75, which reinforces our dedication to rescue and rebuild communities and make mobility networks and supply chains stronger against future shocks. “But there is work to be done. “The key to further raising the resilience of road transport requires us to tackle #drivershortages, #decarbonisation and #digitalisation.” Read more ➡️ https://go.iru.org/PT #RoadTransport | Confcommercio-Imprese per l’Italia

𝟰,𝟬𝟬𝟬𝗸𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟱 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 The IRU-accredited Zhengzhou TIR Logistics Hub, the third of its kind, has now added a new route to #Kazakhstan to its catalogue of destinations. The truck set off after completing its export customs declaration and TIR procedures at the hub, before exiting China through the Khorgos border and arriving in Almaty. The entire 4,000km journey took only five days. The route from the hub saves 30% in costs compared with air and 50% in time compared with rail. TIR logistics hubs consolidate all necessary transit services under one roof: customs clearance, warehousing, cargo handling, route development, and transport-capacity matching. ‘𝗧𝗜𝗥 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆’ “The use of a single document, the TIR carnet, eliminates the need to complete multiple forms and pay customs duties at different borders. This simplifies administrative tasks for freight forwarders and reduces the risk of documentation errors. “Furthermore, the ability to provide customers with more transparent and reliable transport solutions enhances the credibility of freight forwarders. “The internationally recognised TIR system guarantees high standards of safety and security.” – Annameredov Yaylym, Freight Forwarder, Kuwwatly Yollar Learn more about the global TIR transit system ➡️ https://go.iru.org/PR #RoadTransport #TIR75

𝗜𝗥𝗨 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 The IRU General Assembly and council meetings in Geneva last week brought together IRU members from around the world to discuss pressing #roadtransport challenges, share solutions and elect the organisation’s new leadership. At its General Assembly, IRU members unanimously re-elected Radu Dinescu as President alongside two new vice presidents. IRU’s council meetings and General Assembly also held lively discussions featuring a range of regional and global passenger and goods transport perspectives. The Goods Transport Council held a panel debate on growing cross-border transport and trade challenges due to increased protectionism with: • Robert Costello (American Trucking Associations) • Eyad Karadsheh (DB Schenker) • Eduart Kasa (ANALTIR) • Elisabeth Post (Transport en Logistiek Nederland) • Sanjar Pulatov (AIRCUZ) The Passenger Transport Council hosted a discussion led by Laurens van Remortele and Hugo Visser from Transvision B.V. on their experience partnering with operators to buy and test electric coaches. The General Assembly panel on pragmatic #decarbonisation approaches to meeting 2050 net-zero targets and the key messages IRU needs to take to the UN climate change conference (COP29) featured: • Michael Oppermann (Bundesverband Taxi und Mietwagen e.V.) • Pierre-Alain Saclier (CEVA Logistics) • Chris Spear (ATA) • Patrick Westelinck (IRU Passenger Transport Council President) • Andreas Zink (LKW WALTER) Two special farewells were also held for Patrick Westelinck (IRU Vice President) and Turkmen Bootaev (Chairman of AIRTO-KR), both of whom retired to a standing ovation. The General Assembly concluded with an IRU Diploma of Honour ceremony, which recognised 1,847 outstanding drivers globally for their exceptional driving records and commitment to safety. ‘𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗽, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻’ The American Trucking Associations’ advanced seasonally adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index fell by 2.1% in September, after rising 1.7% in August. In September, the index equalled 113.2 (2015=100), compared with 115.6 in August. ATA Chief Economist Bob Costello said, “After increasing a total of 2.1% in July and August, tonnage fell by that amount in September.” “Freight has been very choppy this year, but despite the latest drop, tonnage is up 1.8% since hitting a low in January. No doubt, the climb up has been slow and difficult as manufacturing activity remains flat, but the trend is up, not down,” he added.
