I had an incredible time at Horizon’s 2024 Diverse Supplier Success Summit, where I connected with talented professionals and small business owners from the NJ diverse community. A big thank you Lauren Tapia, MHA, CSSGB and the Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey team for organizing such a fantastic event! The panel discussions included: The Impact of the FIFA World Cup on NJ Small Businesses: Featuring Luis De La Hoz, Chairman of the NJ Statewide Hispanic Chamber; Gus Penaranda, Executive Director of the NJ Pride Chamber; and Jim Kirkos, CEO of the Meadowlands Chamber, moderated by Monica Johnson-Hunt, Sr. Director of Sales at Horizon BSBCNJ. Exciting times ahead for NJ with the World Cup just 18 months away! Small Business Success Strategies: This session highlighted Shark Tank winner Braxton Fleming, Founder/CEO of Stealth Bros & Co, and Kathleen Waters, President & CEO of Facilities Partners & Solutions. **Shout out to Rich @ https://bagups.com/ & Rajiv @ https://lnkd.in/geH9S2DK for presenting their products. Risk Management for Small Businesses: Experts included Katie Freund, VP of Internal Audit at Horizon BCBSNJ; Rhonda Robinson, VP of Enterprise PI & Accountability; and Frank La, VP and Treasurer, moderated by Lori Ferguson, Sr. Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Horizon BC BS A standout quote from the day: “The money will come when you love what you are doing.” As a bonus, I visited The Spanish Tavern https://lnkd.in/g472iTPw in the Iron Bound District, a place that holds many cherished memories for the Villanueva family. We celebrated countless Mother’s Days, Father’s Days, and birthdays there. My grandmother was an exceptional Spanish cook, and this restaurant is the only one that could rival her incredible cuisine!

IntePros was proud to sponsor an inspiring event this morning: Engaging with PAL, a Panel Discussion on Public Safety with the Police Commissioner. A special thank you to Macquarie Group for hosting and Matthew P. Cabrey for organizing! Linda Bakhshian and Patrick Ward kicked off the event with great introductions, and Mike Innocenzo did an excellent job moderating the discussion. We are especially grateful to Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel, Chief Public Safety Director Adam Geer, and Deputy Commissioner for Community Partnerships Myesha Massey for sharing your passion, authenticity, and selflessness with everyone in the room. One of the most impactful moments was when the Commissioner discussed succession planning and the importance of preparing the next generation of "Guardians," a term he used for police officers. The concept of guardians really resonates. On a personal note, I grew up playing basketball in PAL leagues (Simpson Playground for all you Northeast alums!) and still recall the confidence and joy those experiences brought. PAL is about so much more than sports for countless children in our city. Learn more about supporting the organization here: https://phillypal.org/
