Today marks the first day of Fall, and is the perfect opportunity to shine a light on the importance of fall prevention. According to the CDC, every 11 seconds, an older adult is seen in an emergency department for a fall-related injury. Not only do falls threaten seniors' safety and independence, it's the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries for older Americans. 6 changes in condition to look for: 🍁Near-Falls, a stumble or loss of balance 🍁Struggles to get up or transfer from a chair which can indicate lower and/or upper body weakness 🍁Difficulty walking with a tendency to reach out to furniture, walls or others to help stay steady 🍁Sensory Deficits, such as poor vision, hearing and cognition 🍁Vertigo causing dizziness and impaired gait and balance 🍁Loss of function, inactivity, depression or signs of pain   Integrity Home Care can help reduce the risk for falls. Coordinated with our partners in care, our patients, their family and physician, our multi-factorial fall assessment is completed then a customized treatment program is developed.
