Partnering with the Denver metro community, we’ve been alleviating hunger for over 56 years.
About us
From humble origins, IFCS has grown to meet an ever increasing need. With a proud tradition of giving a hand up, not a hand out, IFCS is a hopeful place to those in need. Mission IFCS provides basic human services and enrichment programs to low-income people using community resources. IFCS fosters self-sufficiency and respects the dignity of each client. IFCS serves the people of Centennial, Englewood, Glendale, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Lone Tree, Sheridan and unincorporated Arapahoe County. Programs IFCS is probably best-known for its food and clothing banks, which are truly a reflection of our community. Community members - schools, churches, service clubs, businesses and families, donate all the food and clothing. One of IFCS's main goals is homeless prevention. Through a variety of resources including financial assistance (rental, utility, mortgage assistance), transitional and off-site housing IFCS is able to help families achieve their housing goals, access more affordable housing or simply help its families maintain their present shelter.

The new school year is underway and 306 qualified students from a total of 158 families are starting off with grade-appropriate backpacks and supplies, fresh produce and healthy snacks. This is all thanks to generous community members who sponsored our income-qualified students, and to food & program supporters who made possible the big bags of nutritious goodies that were distributed to the program families. If you have partnered with IFCS to feed young stomachs and minds this year, you can be sure that you are providing many generations with TOOLS for EDUCATIONAL SUCCESS. Thank you!

Did you know that IFCS partners with 6 local agencies and nonprofits to provide meals to unhoused members of our community? You can help by hosting an "On-the-Go" Meal Drive or Personal Hygiene Drive with your neighborhood, service or community group. These drives supply IFCS' partner agencies with no-cook meals and hygiene products for unhoused individuals. Learn more, and explore the Host-a-Drive Kits we prepared to make this service to community both simple and engaging! https://lnkd.in/gZecvewJ #partneringwiththecommunity #ittakesacommunity

A year ago, we launched our new blog, "Service From Scratch," as a way to share more meaningful stories and news with you, our supporters. At the perfect moment, Kathryn Adams generously offered her volunteer writing and here we are - a year later, with 10 blog entries published on our website! Many Thanks to Kat for all her dedication and help interviewing and capturing stories to get our blog rolling in our 60th anniversary year! 🎉 We are now in search of one or two professional writers who can help us continue sharing the great stories that make up IFCS. If you'd like to help, please contact Tara, our Volunteer Coordinator at https://rb.gy/c2ydi4, and mention your writing skill and experience. Thank you! If you haven't yet, check out our blog at: https://rb.gy/4ht29n #ISOwriters #volunteerwriter #sharethestories

Our Ready, Set, School Distribution was a great success, held last week in IFCS' lower parking lot. It was so much fun to see the families and students excited for the new school year, and of course happy about their new backpacks, supplies, snacks, and fresh foods. Thanks to our generous student sponsors, food/program supporters, and volunteers, who supported 158 families and are giving 306 children a great start to the 2024 school year! #SpecialThanks to: • Eric & Ken who helped with offloading the truck • Janet & Barb who inventoried and sorted all the backpacks • Admin volunteers who created bag labels & stuffed envelopes with gift cards • Colorado Center For The Blind who created snack bags • Girl Scouts of Colorado Troop #65353 who created the produce bags • Empower & Littleton Elks Lodge #1650 who helped distribute the backpacks and healthy snacks to the registered student families • Sandra and Perian for putting their blood, sweat, and tears into this program each year! 🎒+📒+🍎= kids ready to learn!
