About us

Since 1996, Infosys Foundation has been trying to make communities and individuals stand on their feet. From helping communities affected by natural disasters, constructing toilets and building libraries for village schools, providing succor to Devadasi women, to donating funds for cancer treatment, scientific research and mid-day meals – if there is a worthy cause in sight, the Foundation is always there to support it. We take great pride in working with all sections of society, selecting projects with infinite care, and working in areas that traditionally overlooked by society at large. With a focus on the most remote regions of India, our initiatives span the areas of education, healthcare, women empowerment, and environmental sustainability, amongst others.

From 2014 to 2019, the Indian government built over 11 crore toilets through the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, an initiative aimed at eliminating open defecation and enhancing hygiene, particularly in rural areas. This effort has significantly improved public health and the quality of life for millions. In alignment with the government, #InfosysFoundation has made contributions to sanitation. Partnering with the Odisha government, it constructed 365 toilets in 110 schools under the Swachh Vidhalaya Program, providing clean facilities for 28,000 children. Through these efforts, Infosys Foundation is driven to create a cleaner, healthier India for all. #InfosysCSR | #Sanitation | #CleanIndia | #PublicHealth

#InfosysFoundation is committed to enhancing the educational landscape of West Bengal by helping attract exceptional faculty and upgrading infrastructure. Presidency University, with its proud 200-year legacy, home to eminent Indian scientists like Jagadish Chandra Bose and Prafulla Chandra Ray, faced a significant challenge: the need for experienced faculty and modern facilities to inspire young minds. Recognizing this, the Foundation provided essential support to help address the challenges faced by the university. Through the establishment of the Infosys Foundation Distinguished Chair Professorship of Economics, the university hired top-tier faculty, bridging critical gaps that had hindered its mission to educate young students. Additionally, the Foundation turned a dilapidated laboratory into the vibrant P.C. Mahalanobis Auditorium, inaugurated by M.K. Narayanan, former Governor of West Bengal and former chancellor of this university. This auditorium has hosted numerous lectures from renowned speakers, enriching the academic experience. This collaboration has positively impacted over 2,700 students and faculty members, demonstrating how support can ignite curiosity and foster excellence. We are dedicated to providing quality education to the students of West Bengal. #InfosysCSR | #Education

In India, infrastructure and maintenance pose as critical challenges for hospitals that must be addressed for effective #healthcare delivery. #InfosysFoundation has consistently stepped up to support healthcare facilities, and one of its initiatives has been the funding of the pediatric ward at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. Originally constructed in 2003 with the Foundation's support, this vital unit was created to meet an urgent need, and it lacked a dedicated building. After 15 years of service, significant renovations were necessary to continue providing quality healthcare facilities for young patients. The Foundation's efforts included repairing walls, ceilings, and flooring, as well as renovating rooms to create a more welcoming space. Colorful graffiti was added to bring joy and vibrancy to the ward, to promote healing and comfort for children during their recovery. By investing in essential #infrastructure, the Foundation aims to ensure that every child receives the quality care they deserve. #InfosysCSR | #CommunitySupport

In rural India, the need for quality healthcare, especially for women and children, is imperative. Jan Chetna Manch, Bokaro (JCMB) has been a champion for women’s health and empowerment in the Bokaro district of Jharkhand, through various self-help groups. These groups had over 8,000 women that advocated for their health needs. Since establishing the first Women’s Health Centre, JCMB provided essential antenatal care to approximately 1,600 women and childbirth services to over 1,000 women each year. JCMB had a team of 8 community health workers and 70 health guides (swasthya sakhis) who cater to a population of nearly one lakh, spread over 100 villages. #Infosys Foundation partnered with JCMB to expand its facilities, to provide healthcare for more women. This collaboration resulted in a center equipped with 30 beds and an addition ambulance, ensuring timely medical assistance for those in need. In just a short period of time, over 5,800 consultations were conducted, and more than 850 women received treatment. The Foundation aims to create a future where women thrive, communities flourish, and healthcare is a basic right for all. #InfosysCSR | #Healthcare | #WomenEmpowerment | #Childcare

Abhishek Shyam Vairagar’s journey is one of resilience and transformation. After losing his father, he witnessed his mother working tirelessly as a maid, to make ends meet. Determined to support her; after graduating from class 10, Abhishek joined a free computer training program offered by the National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) center. There, he learned essential #digitalskills—how to navigate the internet and with the center's guidance, he applied for a job and is now proudly working as a food delivery executive. This story is a powerful testament to how digital literacy can empower individuals and uplift entire communities. At #InfosysFoundation, we believe in the transformative potential of technology and education. Our partnership with the NASSCOM Foundation is a step towards advancing digital literacy across India, aligning with the government’s mission under the National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM). Through our established training centers in Kolar (now Bangarpet), Mangaluru, and Pune, we aim to impart crucial information and communication technology (ICT) skills to over 3,000 individuals annually. We have established centers to support persons with disabilities, aiming to train 500 differently abled individuals annually alongside 300 others. In just 4 years, our collective efforts have reached over 15,000 beneficiaries, nearly 2,000 of whom are specially-abled. This initiative exemplifies the Foundation’s commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that marginalized communities are equipped to thrive in a digital world. #InfosysCSR | #DigitalLiteracy | #Inclusion | #RuralDevelopment | #SkillDevelopment

In the remote Dasmantpur block of Odisha, a community long overshadowed by poverty witnessed an educational transformation. #InfosysFoundation, in partnership with Integrated Development Society (IDS), committed to turning this neglected area into a hub of educational opportunity. The Adarsh Girijan Pragati Vidyalaya, a boarding school built by IDS, addressed the urgent need for quality education in this marginalized community. The Foundation played a pivotal role by providing essential funding for the school's construction and infrastructure. This included establishing a first floor to expand capacity and installing vital facilities such as borewells for drinking water, electricity lines, kitchens, and toilets. In addition to education, basic necessities like food, clothing, and learning materials were provided to the students. This not only enhanced the learning environment but also significantly increased student enrollment and reduced dropout rates. The school had about 60 children and aimed to increase its number. By focusing on empowering girls—who represented over 55% of the student body—the partnership aimed to foster world-class #education and community development. #InfosysCSR I #WomenEmpowerment I #RuralDevelopment

#InfosysFoundation responds to devastating floods and landslides in India. Infosys Foundation has been at the forefront of providing relief to communities impacted by the severe flooding and landslides that have ravaged parts of India this year. In response to these natural disasters, the Foundation distributed 1,500 relief kits to affected families in Wayanad, Kerala. Our Bengaluru DC CSR group, Samarpan, took proactive measures to help distribute 300 of these relief kits. One of the most significant initiatives involved a government school in Wayanad, which was sheltering over 2,700 displaced children. Infosys Foundation, in collaboration with the Sri Ramakrishna Sevashrama, Pavagada, provided 200 school bags, utensils, and solar lamps funded by Infosys employees to ensure the well-being of these young people. In addition to Wayanad, Infosys Foundation extended its relief efforts to Vijayawada, where 2,000 families received essential supplies and financial support. This initiative was a collaborative effort involving the Hyderabad DC CSR Group, Mamata Trust, and local authorities. The Health Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Satya Kumar Yadav, was also present to oversee the distribution process. As the frequency and intensity of natural disasters continue to rise, Infosys Foundation remains committed to providing timely and effective relief to affected communities. Through its disaster relief initiatives, the Foundation aims to rebuild lives, restore hope, and strengthen the resilience of vulnerable populations. #InfosysCSR I #DisasterRelief I #CommunitySupport I #Volunteering

In India, the need for trained professionals in #publichealth has never been more pressing. With limited institutional capacity for training and research, #InfosysFoundation recognized the opportunity to help bridge the gap. We joined hands with the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), which set up the Indian Institute of Public Health (IIHP) to strengthen training, research, and policy development. We supported a 60-month, Master of Public Health (MPH) fellowship program aimed at empowering future leaders in public health. This initiative offers full tuition waivers at Indian Institute of Public Health. After their studies, these passionate fellows embark on a transformative two-year journey with NGOs, receiving a monthly stipend to support their vital work. About 24 dedicated Infosys fellows have completed this program and are making a difference to the community. This project not only aids NGOs but also nurtures a new generation of public health professionals dedicated to positively impact society, but also fosters a healthier future for all. #InfosysCSR I #Healthcare I #CommunityImpact

#InfosysFoundation believes music is an essential pillar of culture, weaving together stories, traditions, and identities across generations. Through our partnership with the Archive of Indian Music (AIM), we aimed to breathe new life into timeless melodies. Imagine listening to the first recording of our National Anthem or the enchanting voice of a 9-year-old M.S. Subbulakshmi—these recordings are windows into our culture. AIM had begun its acquisition of 1,000 gramophone records, creating a catalogue of high-fidelity recordings while developing mobile applications to ensure these treasures reach future generations. Our commitment went beyond preservation; with AIM, we sought to create an ethnographic archive highlighting the rich music, dance, and traditions of indigenous communities in Northeast India, where tribal traditions face extinction. Through field recordings, the essence of these communities was captured, and their artistry was celebrated. We have catalogued the music of the Bauls in West Bengal, and the goal was to document Assam’s largest tribal communities—Bodo, Rabha, and Tiwa, along with photographic documentation of Kamrupi Lokageet and Oja Pali. Our mission is to honor our roots and safeguard traditions so that the vibrant rhythms of India resonate in every heart and home. #InfosysCSR I #Art | #Culture I #Music
