H3X has been awarded a $1.9M TACFI contract with the United States Air Force to advance hybrid-electric powerplants for eVTOL aircraft in military operations. We’re excited to build on our successful Phase II work with AFWERX and continue our collaboration. Electrified aircraft have the potential to provide the Air Force with a range of cost-effective crewed and uncrewed aircraft capable of performing new and valuable missions. These aircraft offer operational independence from traditional runways, increased maneuverability, and the ability to operate from decentralized bases. Hybrid-electric propulsion systems, which combine an engine with an electric machine to generate electricity for propulsion, are now making it possible to harness the benefits of electric motors while also leveraging the superior energy density of liquid fuels. This architecture allows for greater range and endurance, while also eliminating the need for charging infrastructure in forward operating locations, further enhancing their operational utility. This ensures that electric aircraft can meet operational requirements for mission success while benefiting from the strengths of both technologies.

In September 2013, at the 34th America’s Cup, racing changed forever: cup defenders, Emirates Team New Zealand, had shot out the gate with an AC72 catamaran that seemingly flew on top of the water. But it wasn’t flying, it was hydrofoiling. Ultimately, Team New Zealand lost, but for top-level racing, there was no going back. “It forced the entire world to adapt,” Vessev chief executive Eric Laakmann says. “New Zealand is a world leader in hydrofoiling technology through America’s Cup and SailGP.” The NZ-based technology start-up is now aiming to revolutionise marine passenger transport. I'm honored to share I have joined the Board of H3X Technologies as part of our lead investment at Infinite Capital in their $20M Series A! With their high performance, market-leading electric motors, H3X is on a mission to transition the world's aerospace and marine transportation to electric. After working deeply with the team the past years, I've seen their unparalleled insight into electric propulsion, capacity for fundamental innovation, and resilience in the face of obstacles. H3X has executed with capital efficiency and execution speed rarely seen in deep tech, with only seed capital, they evolved from R&D, built a prototype, won commercial contracts, released a suite of products, and finally delivered motors to customers - a significant feat. At Infinite we don't invest in business plans, but rather teams - those addressing ambitious opportunities with step functions in innovation. Jason Sylvestre, Eric Maciolek and Max Liben, the founders at H3X have shown outlier ingenuity, unrelenting tenacity, and the core principles that lead to enormous positive impact. I believe this past year was an inflection point for H3X and with this capital we will only see greater acceleration from them this year. Today we are announcing that we have officially closed our $20M Series A funding round! The round was led by Infinite Capital, with participation from Hanwha Asset Management Co., Ltd., Cubit Capital, Origin Ventures, Industrious Ventures, Venn10 Capital, LP, and follow-on investors that include Lockheed Martin, Metaplanet, Liquid 2 Ventures, and TechNexus Venture Collaborative. This funding will primarily be used to: 1. Scale up production and operations to deliver on some very large aerospace and defense contracts in our pipeline. 2. Finish development of our megawatt-class machines. 3. Continue to improve the robustness and reliability of our core technology through endurance, thermal cycling, and accelerated aging testing. We couldn't have reached this point without an amazing group of customers, advisors, investors, partners, and most of all, everyone at H3X. While we're celebrating this milestone, we will not rest on our laurels and will continue to push at a relentless pace towards our mission of becoming the world leader in electric motors to enable sustainable aviation, decarbonize the marine and industrial sectors, and unlock next-generation electrified defense technology.
