Last week, JCF helped announce the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s Michigan Climate Investment Accelerator (MCIA) alongside representatives from the national clean energy financing community, including JCF Coalition Partners Inclusiv, Opportunity Finance Network, and Michigan Saves. The MCIA aims to maximize investment from the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund by offering more families and businesses access to financing for clean energy technologies, creating good-paying jobs and lowering energy costs. “The Justice Climate Fund is a proud supporter of the Michigan Climate Investment Accelerator,” said JCF CEO Amir Kirkwood. “In partnership with our network of community lenders, JCF supports projects that reduce emissions, lower energy costs, create jobs, and strengthen the resilience of local economies. Last month, Inclusiv's board of directors gathered in Washington, DC for its quarterly meeting. Over the course of two days, we received several exciting updates around the progress being made on our strategic plan and on the implementation of our US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund Clean Communities Investment Accelerator (staff are being hired and systems to manage capital and grant requests are being readied). We also had several opportunities to meet with our partners. Pravina Raghavan, Director of the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund), shared timely updates on the future plans of the CDFI Fund. Our friends at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau took time to learn from our solar lending experience and how credit union members are navigating the homeowner insurance crisis in different parts of the country. Last, but certainly not least, we capped the time in DC with a briefing of the staff for the Senate CDFI Caucus. Special thanks to the leadership of the Caucus, U.S. Senator Mark Warner, and the staff for Senator Mike Crapo for taking time out of their schedules to meet directly with Inclusiv’s board. Also, thanks to Hope Credit Union for the opportunity to be a part of this organization... to serve with so many colleagues who represent the diverse beauty of this country in thoughts, deeds and words and inspire in their tireless efforts to build an economy that works for all.
