How ILIA began
Our founder, Sasha Plasvic, struggled with sensitive skin throughout her life. No matter what she tried, she couldn’t find makeup that didn’t irritate her skin. This was before “clean beauty” existed. Sasha had no blueprint—just a vision of transparent, thoughtful beauty that puts skin first. She started in ILIA in 2011, with a few lip balms in a local boutique. In 2022—11 years and many products later—ILIA joined the Courtin-Clarins family, with the goal of sharing clean, skin-centric beauty.

We believe that little by little, a little becomes a lot—so we make choices today for a better tomorrow. In 2021, we joined 1% for the Planet to donate 1% of all Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 sales to environmental causes—with a goal of $1M by the end of 2023. We strive towards sustainable packaging wherever possible, through the use of post-consumer and mono materials, and partner with Pact Collective to offer free makeup recycling and help tackle the beauty industry’s waste problem.
