Last school year, students from Federal Way High School and Cedarcrest Middle School participated in an exciting IGNITE Field Trip to the F5 Tower in downtown Seattle. A total of 35 students explored the impressive skyscraper, guided by F5 professionals. This event provided an immersive experience into the world of technology and STEM careers. After the event, one 7th-grade IGNITE Student shared, “Today’s event made me feel like I can do this and that STEM feels more like a possibility. On May 1, 2024, students from Renton High School went on an IGNITE Field Trip to Stryker for an engaging and informative experience that featured a diverse lineup of STEM professionals. With 24 students from grades 9-12, this event aimed to provide an inside look into Stryker’s innovative facilities and medical technology. After the event, one 12th-grade student shared, "I feel more confident as a woman going into STEM." Last week, MCG's Women and Allies (WAM) employee resource group hosted an inspiring field trip for 17 students from Fife High School in Washington State. In partnership with IGNITE Worldwide, MCG WAM members arranged a real-world #STEM experience for the students including interactive storyboarding sessions and a panel discussion with our #healthIT experts. Through these events, MCG is helping to bridge the gender gap in tech for the next generation. Special thanks to Tami Wantola, michelle walsh, Madhuri Vegaraju, and Natalie McGarry for their help in organizing and presenting at our IGNITE event. On April 30, 2024, Tumwater Middle School, Bush Middle School, and Washington Middle School students enjoyed an exciting Field Trip to South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) in Olympia, WA. This first IGNITE Program Event in Olympia offered 36 students a chance to experience college life through a series of activities. After the event, one 8th-grade IGNITE Student shared, "This event inspired me by exposing me to different career options and paths to get there. The labs and panel helped me learn about and experience different jobs."
