Democracy is about people. The work of building resilient democracies that fortify meaningful participation for all people extends beyond analysis and observation. At IFES, our staff and partners work with global and local leaders to advance anti-corruption, inclusion, and technology for democracy, as well as the integrity of elections. Deputy Director, Center for Applied Research and Learning at The International Foundation for Electoral Systems
If you happened to tune in to NPR last night, you might have heard me talking again about the obstacles Venezuelans abroad are facing to participate in the upcoming elections. And it's not only out-of-country voting that is compromising the integrity of this process - abuse of state resources, unfair disqualification of opposition candidates, and media monopoly are also among the top concerns. You can listen to the segment here ↓ https://lnkd.in/dCiTqW2C

Today is a big day for our team... since I first began working on Advanced Protection in 2020, I've seen how much this no cost program benefits those at highest risk of targeted attacks by providing extra safeguards against common attacks like phishing, malware and fraudulent access to data. We've also heard from partners and the ecosystem - like journalists covering a war zone, traveling campaign workers, and business leaders on the go - that in addition to security keys, there needs to be an easier way to authenticate securely. As of today, you can now enroll in Google's Advanced Protection with the accessible, secure authentication method of passkeys. We'll continue to support security keys and provide them to those that need them most around the world at no cost, building off of the >200,000 keys we've already provided thanks to Duaa Elzin and our amazing partners. Today also marks a major moment in our collaboration to protect targeted journalists and human rights workers around the world. I'm so excited to finally be able to share our global partnership with Internews - Internews will provide safety and security support through their global network of security partners and trainers across Asia, Latin America and Europe. Thank you Adrienne Villani and Haley S. for your leadership to make this possible. Patty G. Luciana Cordeiro Stefano Reccia and I are so excited to work with you and the team. My greatest thanks to our partners - Asia Centre Defending Digital Campaigns The International Foundation for Electoral Systems and many more for your collaboration and feedback, and the important work you do to train and support those at highest risk of targeted attacks around the world. Account hijackings still remain the primary cause of cyberattacks, and your expertise and efforts are truly inspirational. I'm so proud of the team including Shuvo Chatterjee Nafis Zebarjadi Sriram Karra who led the way for Advanced Protection enrollment with easier and secure authentication. Thank you Kimberly Samra Atheana Altayyar John Gronberg Christiaan Brand Courtney Chatman Royal Hansen Heather Adkins and too many others to name for your leadership in making this possible. I'd also like to thank Sunny C. whose research on the user experience needs for highly targeted individuals has paved the way for more accessible online safety tools for global communities. Please check out our blog and the Advanced Protection site to learn how to enroll with a passkey today!
Passkeys are now available for high risk users to enroll in the Advanced Protection Program
