Surveys are a quick and easy way for the city to collect feedback from YOU on how we're doing and help them identify focus areas for improvement. This annual survey hit a record last year with 2,414 recorded responses... but only three of those were from the Spanish survey. ✂❤Just in time for back-to-school season, Dem Nampa Boyz partnered with the Idaho Hispanic Foundation and the Boys and Girls Club of Nampa to offer free haircuts to K-12 students. The all-star team from Dem Nampa Boyz provided haircuts to 90 kids in the Treasure Valley over the course of just five hours. They also served free hamburgers, hotdogs, and distributed backpacks filled with school supplies for all the children in attendance. Jose "Toro," founder of Dem Nampa Boyz, emphasized that boosting the children's confidence was the main goal of the event, stating: "I believe that when a person feels confident they do great things so we wanted to help students feel confident going back to school. We want our community to know that we're here for them, not just for us." The closure of Snake River Elementary School and it's resource center created a gap in the Nampa community. When the City of Nampa announced the opportunity to operate a community resource center from the Idaho Hispanic Community Center, the Idaho Hispanic Foundation recognized a chance to realize our vision and meet the expectations set for the IH2C. We seized this opportunity to apply for the new center and are very excited to get it up and running for our community! “We want to take people from surviving to thriving,” the foundation’s executive director, Mari Ramos, told the Idaho Statesman.
